It's always a little sad when I can respond to a question by quoting myself:

Saying people are setting their prices because of greed is just an ugly way of stating the simple truth of capitalism: people do work to make money. If they don't make enough money, they'll stop doing the work.

Allow me to parse my own statement for you. I never denied greed is involved, only pointed out that the word "greed" is pointed and negative. Setting aside the negative connotation for a second, look at reality: if people aren't getting enough in compensation (be it money, or enjoyment, or whatever their reason is for doing the work) then they will stop doing it.

The huge difference in sl is shops that have over-inflated prices trying to pass off as being "Upscale" to justify these prices, sell the same exact items as the other shops who's average pricing is much much lower.

Why? Because it's their prerogative, yes. But the bottom line is what? Cause they sweat when making these items? Please!!! They make these items the same way the shops who sell them down the block do and these other places sell them a lot cheaper. There's no difference.

The reason is they want more money and there's nothing wrong with this. This is why you start a business, to make money. But you can't say greed isn't the motivation behind a lot of what goes on behind many of the so-called "Upscale" shops. Or over the over inflated prices on common items whether it's in sl or rl.

If anything thinking it's not like this in some shops is what's really limited.

maybe they also spend more time on it and have some real skill to put at work?

that sound like a valid reason to me, its why some peoples can barely scribble in paint and some are webdesigners.
