Anyone else notice that all a griefer needs to do is pretty much log on to secondlife and he can self supply himself with griefing utensils at tons of stores at relatively cheap prices? Like a very sophisticated ISBM (Inter-Sim Ballistic Missile). This lil baby, known as a Centurion and created by Aubretec can travel between any number of sims (is vulnerable to auto returns though) but if it reaches it's target, say goodbye to any people there whether they're damage or not. And psitec? Wooo so many uses with that...shoving people...orbitting people...trapping people...throwing annoying sounds at them?

And these 2 aren't the only stores, they're just the most popular and widely used for abusing anti push restrictions. There's also novum inc, that in their latest update, created a sniper rifle (which isn't all to good) that can hit people in a no push zone, and push them (though through volunteer testin I've found it only works at a range of 35M or more.) a good deal, or even slowly orbit then. And yet, why is this all legal? Because it's not the sellers fault for how their item is used, it's the owner of the item that bought it. Just like, usin a rl situation, it's not Iran's fault that the insurgents have chlorine gas and 4000 pounds of C4 explosive on a daily basis and use them to destroy our soldiers, it's how the insurgents use them! So the world knows Iran is sellin insurgents weapons of mass damage...nothin done about it...and nukes, nukes are illegal in game for the very reason they can bring down a sim...and yet they're still being sold and used widely...am I missing somethin?

Gotta love how messed up everything is...maybe I should predict LL's comment to this, probably somethin along the lines of, "Expanded to fast and turned a social expiriment into a warzone." Did anyone else see the article on the mainpage about someome from a LA newspaper i think it was attacking big corporations with nukes?

Haha it's still there too! http://www.latimes.com/entertainment/news/la-fi-second22feb22,1,729204.story?track=crosspromo&page=1&coll=la-headlines-entnews&ctrack=1&cset=true
Atom bombs ftw Marshal Cahill fight the power man!

Oh, and please, no idiots rambling about useless crap like why i'm still here, i have my reasons and they're dang good one's too. Though I'm sure I'll get some idiot replies. It's inevitable with local schooling these days. Or lack of.

Lol, it's a game dude, get over it.

I been orbited by griefers a few times and by other people accidently, it happens. And guess what? My chars are still walking around this very day unscathed . :P

Most griefers won't use this stuff because it costs money they don't have and it's non transferable between characters so as soon as the char has been banned goodbye expensive toys.

They more likely use some home scripted tranferable copyable stuff that they swap amounst themselves.

This stuff here is more fun to shoot griefers with as half of them don't have anything decent and are silly enough to keep trying to shoot you through a 10x10 alpha texture wall, the psi tech is great you just wear it in defense mode, they attack you automatic orbit, no need to bother attacking them.

A sniper rifle good for 35m, wow big deal, I think freebie guns work at that range :P
There are armoured gunships available that are better too, and tanks, remember to add them to your quest for a boringly perfect love, fruit & flowers wannabee world.

Personally it's always been a comical affair being griefed so far, relieves boredom, you'd be surprised how badly a free account griefer fairs against someone with real defense and weaponry, they might get you the first hit but they seem to give up after their 3rd or 4th butt kicking when you are ready for them.

So yeah ban the advertising of guns if thats your troll topic, but don't whine when griefers keep using them on you and you can't even buy a defense sheild :P

Being paid well for advertising their latest gun and dissing the opposition? :P
Don't forget to campaign for banning of Grey Goo, Sonic Rings, Batrap & Banana phone replicators too.......

1) Apparently a lot of people don't think it's a game :p

2) the gun works as far as i can see, the push option in a no push zone only works if the target is 30+

3) pff gunship where everyone can see me, or small gun and hididng spot where no 1 can.

4) buy me psi tec defence? XD

If you simply sit on a pine textured cube, you can probably stop almost all attacks.

Still (slightly) on topic. Where does this rampant griefing take place? I live on the mainland, I move about on the mainland and, apart from some persistant sex seeking newbs and one guy literally begging me to buy him a gun, I haven't encountered the level of malevolence suggested constantly in these forums.

im with ike on this, methinks someone is on the take with all the heavy advertising FOR the potential griefer's needs. if its such a problem ar the GRIEFER, not the creator, as all they did was find a need a fill it.

as to the Iran comment? unneccesary and totally irrelevant to this issue. its also inflammatory, and downright sick of you to compare it to griefing.

man up and deal.

But the third job, some call it, uh, "the show" or "the big dance," it's the profession that every linden aspires to.

C-4 explosives! Chlorine gas!

Why didn't Aubretec think of those?

Brilliant!

Now, how to adapt them to use against griefers?...Hhhmm.

so, how does the rifle that pushes in a no-push area work?

(am genuinely interested, is it a cheap hack? or some clever scripting? )

I'd like to give an answer.. being that this forum is "Resident Answers"... but I can't find a focussed question in the original post.

actually the entire post looked like a giant commercial to me I was thinking how this would send all griefers directly to those named places to get these "gadgets"

Anyhow it looks like a commercial, smells like one and is one /shrug

I've only been in Second Life, but I have only been griefed by a gadget once. In my experience, it is not a pervasive problem.

Check out the pic on the OP's inworld profile.

Really helps convince you that he's sincerely anti-greifing. </sarcasm>

*snorts* Only place I have ever gotten griefed is on Linden owned properties. Sandboxes, the Linden Chateaus and such are the only places I've been consistently caged, orbited and otherwise annoyed. Usually an AR and a yelp on Help Request stops that too.

Avoid the trap zones and you are fine. No need to make a commercial production out of an issue that usually resolves itself. (On my land, the resolution is to freeze with eject... or just freeze and dress 'em up.)

Silly,
Don't you know that your average noob griefer cannot afford Aubretec weaponry and that they tend to use that freebie trash they can get at Yadni's and a dozen other places.

Yes some hardcore repeat griefers eventually get enough money to buy the high end weaponry, but those are the exception, not the rule.

This past Saturday, I had one noob walk onto my land with a Linden Popgun... the freebie trash that is found in everyone's Library. It has low push, but not on push disabled land. Mr griefer fired at me (and missed) several times before I asked him to remove his gun. I explained to him about griefing and what people would think of him. He replaced it with a freebie axe and swung it at me (passed thru me since it was phantom). Then he went back to his popgun and shot me at point blank range (and discovered that it doesn't work on no-push land). No Aubretec weapons (including PsiTec), No Novum or Black Ops, or Carducci, or any of the other weapons that actually cost money. Just simple freebie trash.

Mr griefer also learned about the landowner power of eject & ban.
