From: June Oh Interesting, reading thier web site sounds like a copy of SL. Those of you that have run the game how does the running compare with SL? How do you think security is for a country like China, if they want CC details etc.? Is there "adult" content? Regards June The PRC has very strict controls on pornography, so Adult content is unlikely. HEY!! this will be a logical alternative for ALL those SL residents who want stricter controls placed on Just about every activity in SL, because they don't want the burden of being responsible adults themselves, or benevolently wish, For thier own Good of course, To spare Others the burden of making Lifestyle descisions for themselves. ~removing tongue from cheek~ I'm sorry, but i couldn't resist. From: Rock Ryder I have yet to learn of the payment currency, but what will really thrill European virtual worlders is that Credit Cards and paypal payments are envisaged, but are down the list of payment options. Direct debit and bank to bank transfers are preferred, which eliminates the paying of 2.5% and upwards of everything spent to credit card companies, and will make Europeans smile (Americans still find it astonishing that in Germany for example, most stores do NOT accept credit cards, while Germans find it astonishing that Americans still think that the only way to make payments is via credit cards or Paypal. That's the power of advertising, I guess.)
Here in the States, bank-to-bank transfers are often whacked with horrendous fees. The ones that are done for automatic payments of bills are fine, but a user-initiated wire transfer may get hit for US$20 or more. And any sort of international transaction typically incurs additional fees. But then, some credit card issuers have also started tacking on surcharges for international transactions -- the claimed reason is that fraud is more common. Unless Hipihi were to establish a US billing address, they might find that US residents would find the costs of doing business with them unacceptable. If it's a big enough success and if they actually WANT Americans to play, they probably will do that, just as LL has set up a British billing address to make payments less painful for EU residents.

Shirley In UK one chooses ones CC issuer with care and no charges are made if you pay off fully each month. My CC/Bank make me no charges for paying Lindon from UK£ to USA$
In CC and DC are used widely used in shops, SuperMarkets and for Internet purchases. PayPal is used for paying Ebay. PayPal in turn from my CC, this gives UK consumer Protection regarding the goods.
When abroad I draw cash from ATMs with CC in local currency, this again gets no charges, one as to make sure the convertion to UK£ is NOT done by the foriegn bank, to get a better rate of exchange.
Regards June
PS I'm not sure I would want to make payments to China untill I knew more about purchases /payments to that country.
