Freaking A! I had about eighty animations in there, most were not copy either! I was editing it, and tried to take it back, but it remained on the land. So I was standing there, waiting for it to come back, and crashed. When I logged back in it wasn't on the land or in my inventory. Anyone else have this happen, know what to do? Is it related to the asset server issues?? I've been having this problem with things remaining on the land for about a week now, so I wasn't sure if it was related, though this is the first time I actually lost an item from it.

According to the blob:
From: Second Life blog

[ 4:04] Problems with the asset server may include inventory loss, objects rezzed may not load and may not return to your inventory. Please be cautious about using your inventory during this time. We will update as we have more information.

Is there an open JIRA issue asking to restore the functionality we used to have?

There used to be no need to actually rez an AO/dance foo/etc before, you could simply edit the attachment/HUD and drag/drop items to/from it the same as any rezzed prim.

Haha. I just bought some anims for my alt and stuffed them into a ZHAO. Tried to pick it up from the ground... EXACT SAME THING. True it was only about 200L worth but still... Why are anims set to no copy anyways? I tried clearing my cache and restarting but still didn't see it. Oh well hopefully it will show up later.

Happened to me too. It has to do with the ghost prim bug. See this post for more info:

https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/SVC-242
I certainly hope that they are working on it.

A friend of mine lost hers, Twice.
It turned out the second time she dropped it. a quick search of the area where she had been standing when she noticed it had stopped working turned up the second AO. it was too bad she didn't remember where ster was when the first stopped. she would have saved a fortune on new animations.
Needless to say, she is very careful about the drop Command now.

Yep, it's related to the ghost prims. I lost my AO a while back too, but that was because it went missing from my inventory. :/ Luckily I had 1 animation in there. I won't buy expensive animations and I wouldn't put them all in one ZHAO anymore because of this. And Bree, I've always wondered the same thing..what exactly is the deal with no copy anims?

I'm not building on my land (only sandboxes) or rezzing expensive things until this bug is fixed...so I really hope it gets taken care of soon...

The deal with no copy anims is people IM you to say they accidently bought them and ask for a refund, if an item is copy/no trans of course they cannot return it and get very upset with you, places that sell in copy/no trans often have a "no refunds" policy and there have been many threads bashing people who sell in copy/no trans.

Whichever you do people are not happy.

However if people buy an AO anim from me and wish to have it in copy/no trans, all they have to do is IM me and send me the no copy/trans one and Ill send them it in copy/no trans, I have a big sign there to this end.

Personally, I never ever DROP anything. If I want to work on my AO, the first thing I do is go home. Then I Detach my AO, rez a box, drag it to the box and work on it there.

Isn't it strange how readily ppls seem to accept 'well is was only a few bucks'.. but times that by the many people who have lost a lot of things, by the frequency, and it adds up quickly into quite a sizeable chunk of change. It would be almost impossible to operate some sort of compensation setup, but the least we could expect is LL to start getting things right... it seems when they fix one thing, a lot of other previously unbroken things, break... and its growing expotentially.

Anyone notice this last 'update', you open the IM window, finish chatting, close that IM tab, and the IM window shrinks back to default size? Several 'upgrades' they have borked that IM window, either changing position or size... why? Are they blending previously bugged code into new releases? How many more times, do we accept things being 'fixed' only to reoccur at some future point?

I dont accept it at all. Sold most of my furniture and my land (landbot got it in 1,5 sec) and then sent all my cash to my paypal account and downgraded to freebie account.

Not spending a single cent on SL again before they fix EVERYTHING.

That's not going to solve this problem. I was at home, and it was on-top of another prim. The issue is taking it back. When I took it back, it remained on land, however I could do nothing with it, except move it around. I couldn't return it to myself, I couldn't take it, or even delete it. Once relogged, it was lost forever. Really sucks. We just re-organized our house and my girl lost a very expensive piano in the process too =(

You know what really kills me about this whole update process. Updates are supposed to make software better.

Since the flexi/light update, I've yet to see a full update by them that has made Second Life truly better. And I know a lot of them are working, but this game is completely messed up.

Same here.. I've gotten so freaking paranoid about this that I must have copies in the inventory. And I don't buy animations that are no copy/trans. I prefer the copy/no trans myself. I can give my hubby the L if he wants the same animation I am using ;)

this has happened to me... twice in the past few months.

both times i lost more than L$2000 worth of animations.

i wish animators would make their animations copy/no-xfer. i've only seen 1 creator that does this. with expensive items like these that you at some time have to rezz in-world, it would be nice to have backup copies. especially with sl being buggy this way lately.

I'm really pi**ed for you Broken. A dear friend of mine suffered catastrophic inventory loss last year (several thousand items) and it's one reason he upped and left. Do you have any decent stand/walk anims left at all? If I sold animations I'd give you the pick of my store but alas, I don't. :(

Sorry to say this but now that I see it happening to others I feel less victimized that it happened to me.......

This is real money here... I mean for those of you that lost over 8 bucks, Like I did, don’t you feel like its a waste... I mean I never spent money on a game before, and now that I actually do I regret it, cause it can be stolen/ lost just like that.....

And With the Support Portal going down I am starting to think SL is did it on purpose, or at least making it so they don’t ear the fact that its not totally fixed yet.... so the problem can continue at a lesser scale, you know, help the SL economy a little.....

Or maybe I’m just feeling vengeful...

But for cases like this they should offer some sort of refund… even it its only 50%........ I mean we are spending real money here… and its not OUR fault there is a problem with a ghost prim bug….

Sl can track everything you do to the exact second you do it, so they should be able to see that you dragged a item out, then it disappeared…. They CAN do SOMETHING about it…. But they closed our only rescores to voice your concerns to them….

Perfect timing SL…….

Realistically, if LL had to deal with compensation claims, not only would they have to dedicate 100% of their staff to deal with every cliam, but would inheritdly go bust, or have to put prices/revenues up to cover the cost, that way everyone will be simply paying for their own compensation, and that of others.

Yeah. While I would love to be compensated for a loss that is entirely their fault, I don't see that happening ever. But such is the way the cookie crumbles. It's very frustrating not putting prims out at all right now, but I refuse to risk losing anything else. My girlfriend just lost a very expensive scripted piano as we cleaned up our land to sell, as well as an assortment of other things we had in our house. At this point Second Life to me is nearly unplayable, so I probably wont be logging in at all for the next few days except early in the morning for a little bit.

A frightening experience

Same sad story for me.
I've lost 3000 L$ of scripted objects.
I was thinking to upgrade to premium, but now i've lost any confidence in the security of SL.

Why isn't this more public? - I am sure LL would fix the dammed thing quickly if it actually started hurting commerce in world...
