Instead of carving and flipping, maybe the smart barons will try to add value now, with some nicer trees/landscaping, prebuilt homes, themed development, public park areas, etc?

Sounds like an interesting social experiment. I think you're on to something here. Sort of a microcosm of SL, where the government isn't the distant Lindens who leave ARs uninvestigated, it's the residents themselves, who have something personal at stake and thus are more motivated to keep the place cleaned up.

I've seen a lot of sims being set up like this recently, and... god they're ugly.
