It seems that all of a sudden some object text is purple instead of green, and has "Object say," instead of "Object:"

- what's this all about?

You can change the chat colors under preferences.

Edit > Preferences > Chat

There was a change with the default "owner" chat
color. That purple didn't work for me either!

Scripted llOwnerSay text was split out from regular scripted chat (like llSay and llInstantMessage) to let you know whether you're the only one seeing the text or whether anyone could see it.

The purple was an unfortunate colour choice which will hopefully change in the next viewer, the gramatically impaired "Object say, " is due to an oversight implementing a resident's patch.

I like purple too. Its just that in this case the text is totally unreadable.

Forcing the user to have to change viewer preferences just to read text that used to be readable is totally stupid.

Go vote to get this fixed:

You can change that in your Preferences menu to anything you like:

Edit->Preferences->Text Chat: Owner

Happy colorizing! :)

So, which is the "only I can see what it's saying" colour?

I had to lighten it to make it readable, but I'm backing the purple on general principle!

I agree, purple is a horrible default for this chat type's color, and the prefix using "say" instead of "says" is illiterate.

Happily the JIRA issue i mention at the bottom was accepted and resolved. This will be fixed in the next server update.
