Has anybody else noticed that since yesterday's update SL is very briefly freezing every 20 seconds or so?. Why is nobody mentioning this?. Have you all given up caring?

SL has been quitting or freezing on me all day, at least 6 times so far. I have been forced to restart my computer 4 times. I, too, am surprised that nobody has mentioned it.

Mileage varies, depending on your OS, computer processor, graphics card, RAM, and the color of your eyes. Not to mention how bloated your Inventory and how much bling your avatar carries. I haven't had any trouble since the update yesterday, but except for very common bugs (like the Shakespeare pants syndrome) I usually don't suffere unduly after updates anyway. Other people crash and burn repeatedly. Partly I have a conventional system, with plenty of power and RAM. I keep my Inventory pared down, use very few attachments, and spent time honing my system preferences. |

I did notice this intermittently last night but wrote it off as network lag. Come to think of it though, I have never seen it act like this before-- normallly during lag spikes things keep moving around you, sort of like when you drift aimlessly after crossing a sim border, but in this case the client seemed to freeze for a few seconds, then catch up. I'll guarantee that in my case client-side bandwidth and/or hardware are not the cause of this ![]() |

I too saw this wierd freezing every 20 seconds when I first loaded the new update. However after crashing, resetting my Router and cable modem, and restarting the client, I haven't seen it since. So not really sure what it was, but it didn't seem to be permanent.

I have been experiencing this and it is extremely annoying. It seems like a hard lockup of the PC, not SL server lag. While it's locked, I can't move the mouse or ALT-TAB.
It "feels" like something to do with the graphics card or drivers. I have an Nvidia 6600GT. [edit]Just logged in to check. I was wrong. It's not a hard lock-up of the whole PC. ALT-TAB still works. But the SL client is fully locked, moreso than with "normal" lag. The higher your draw distance is, the more often the lock-ups occur, it seems. And sometimes the fan on my graphics card speeds up a gear when these lock-ups occur. I'll bug report it. |

Happening on my MAC, too.
![]() I thought ISP connection had dropped, and SL had frozen. (The Red/Yellow/Green data thermometers in upper right corner were both black) My browser worked fine, though. 1/2 minute after I noticed the SL freeze, it just merrily went back to work. |

I've just tried the First Look viewer and that suffers from the same problem.
