Got first land - now how to get rid of it?

I bought First Land last month and happily built a house. It was great to play on, but now I find large rotating signs around and sky boxes looming over.

I've found a nice & much larger piece of land to rent for the same price ($10 USD per month for 2048 sq.m) so I thought I'd revert to a basic account and rent that instead.

Will anyone want a plot of 512 sq.m? If so then what is the best way to sell it? Looking at auctions and sales, they all seem to be for larger plots in nice areas. This is surrounded by other plots.

I can find info on selling large plots and on buying First Land but nothing on selling First Land.

Set your sale price in the 5K-7K range and you'll be rid of it within minutes. You do this in your land menu.

A lot of 512 is going very cheap at that price now adays. If time isn't a worry, set it to 10-15K, it'll go, but slower. A friend just sold his 512 for 20K in about 15 days time, so you'll see your land go shortly with the much lower price.

There is a lot next to my first land going for $89,999. I guess because a casino is built on the other side of it. However, another lot next to mine is going for $15,000 right now.

Right click on some of the land around you and see what they are asking if theirs is for sale too.

The reason you won't see many 512 plots for sale is because the reasonably priced ones tend to get bought so quickly.

I'd say you would quickly get a buyer if you put it for sale at 13L/sqm in the current market, or 6656L. You might want to make the price a round number, up to you really. If you were prepared to wait a little longer, you would probably be able to ask for more, however waiting carries the risk that prices will fall in the meantime. Again, up to you.

All of this is general advice, not specific to your land as I haven't seen it or its surroundings. For the purposes of alleviating any concerns about my impartiality, I am not it world at the moment and will not be for several hours more and therefore am unlikely to be able to purchase this land.

Personally, I'd wait for a bit unless you're dead set on renting in preference to owning.
There's always a rapid turn-over of plots when first put on the market but it soon settles down to the serious folk who want to set up home and with that, down come the signs.

If you really want to sell, as someone else suggested, check out the asking prices nearby. Then, as a courtesy and who knows? someone might be interested, talk to your next-door neighbours. One of them might like to expand and heck, that could be more profitable (and neighbourly!) than selling as a single plot.

Thanx for the replies guys. I'll check when I'm in world but I haven't seen any plots in the immediate vicinity with For sale signs, the aggravating rotating ones are for businesses and in one case a giant ad.

I have about 6 weeks of paid premium account so I can afford a bit of time to mull it over, I hadn't considered approaching the neighbours, that's a good idea :)

I guess if you take into account the premium payments in $L each week then the actual cost is about $5 USD, for that price I might clear the house off, plant a few trees and use it as a mini sandbox! However I now have much more information on which to make a decision.

If you're in-world say Hi :) tho I run on GMT so I'm around at odd hours for many.

Currently SL is experiencing a land bubble on the mainland. This has been brought about by a combination of rapid resident growth and LL having to devote nearly all new servers to support the massive surge of island purchases in November.

If you have land to sell, sell it now. Get your money and buy more when the market collapses again. You very likely can get up to 10K for a First Land type 512 now. Once LL catches up with island sales, the bubble will pop.
