As far as business is concerned and the making of money, this is what I have come to this conclusion.
If you choose to restrict your business or land with a business on it (its your choice). You are doing one of the major mistakes made in SL business. If you offer a product or an entire line of products based on adult content and themes, what ever they may be, and restrict you rland. Your going to loose business. I have friends that do not use payment info and do not wish to (they make about 10k + a week working as it is. We all went shopping for items of the adult nature and I can say that I know 3 of us are of leagel age. Three businesses, lost my business as well as three other customers business due to two of us being restricted access. Now when you have thousands to spend and you have something that is warented as a good item you need to open your shop to make money.
If someone enters your shop and is a minor in real life than they are in violation of the TOS of Linden Labs thus for breaking an agreement and certianly some laws at this point. Thus fore if thier mother or another wished to sue, the Lindens could actually counter sue for wrongfull access as well as violation of internet and local laws that restrict access to the mature contyent.
It all comes down to one thing, Do you want to sell to them or wait till they find something somewhere else and miss the sales like some have with me and my friends, because if my friends and myself cannot gain access due to age of account or credit used, I will go elsewhere to shop and sopend my large amounts of linden. If I have mature content it has to be in a "Mature Zone" by the TOS. So if a minor gains access it is not on me it is on the minor for unlawfully gaining access.
Nuff said time to go buy some more, hmmmmm......Is does your store have restricted access? Hope not.......................
Ba Bye for now.

Ba Bye for now. You have to ask yourself the trade off though. Losing a few customers over helping to keep the grid up so others CAN buy.... I do not restrict, but there's certainly a good reason to, depending on your view and how many times your particular sim has been brought down.

From: Karl Herber FWIW having payment info on file does NOT verify that the user is over 18. It verifies only that the user is over 16. This is because SL also allows a sizeable portion of debit/ATM cards as well as credit cards. Certainly in the UK and elsewhere in Europe, debit cards are available to people aged 16 or older, and therefore anyone of that age may have a payment-verified account in SL. Therefore using the "verified accounts only" rule for purposes of age-verification is totally pointless. That's true. One can also get a bank account and a paypal account with 16. But I worry most about minors below that age. I doubt that the parents of a 16 year old teenager would likely sue. Also - a minor who owns a credit card and / or a paypal account has to be aware that LL can verify some RL data, so they'll likely not use it to sign up if it can be avoided.

Well, my cc isnt accepted by LL OR paypal! How would I get into your place? Also, another problem is some companies, like USAA, give kids debit/credit cardswhe they are 13, so, what if timmy's family were USAA members, and timmy used his own credit card?! He'd be a verified account, and still 13, in your club! I personally dont mind the places, but I am not too fond of them either. I ended up in a strip club once, on accident, because it had free items in, it, and due to the fact that I cant afford anything right now, due to being new, I really had no choice. But yeah, if anyone ever complains about a "Timmy" being in your joint, tell them to piss off, and send me an IM so we can get everything straight. I tell you good luck on your buisiness, and there will always be "timmy's" joining the MG, and on that note, farewell!

USAA flags a credit card as a minor's card and it's essentially a pre-paid card that anyone could get anyways. Add to that, a parent has full and total access to what the money is going towards, then it becomes parent discretion anyways. Considering you are discussing USAA, which is a company that only allows American troops (former, reserve and active) and their immediate family to have, I'm sure your card would be accepted by LL or paypal.
