So I popped in on Alphavilleherald yesterday just to see what's up and had a massive OMG moment. I downloaded the files they were discussing and it was just a bizarre read.

Now I've been in SL for a pretty good while and have never heard of this group Justice League Unlimited. I have heard of PN just in the forums but likewise have never ran across anyone from it. So I'm wondering, have I missed a huge part of SL over the past three or so years or is this just something that is being blown out of proportion? Cause the way this stuff gets written it would seem that these groups are everywhere.

Yeah I saw that too. I heard of the Justice League before as I used to date a guy that belonged to it when I first came to sl but I always thought they were a group that like to dress in super hero/villain costumes. He loved my Wonder Woman costume. That golden lasso of mine really saw alot of action.

It sounds like it has evolved into a hot mess.

I looked through those files too. Sounds like a lot of the other "Police" groups in SL. :-/

They are pretty nice and do a lot of security at socially responsible/charity events. In fact they did security for all of a 24-hour event I was co-coordinating in November. At the Relay for Life last year their build was near Camp Hardnock's and they took us on a tour of their place.

I don't think doing security for events quite makes up for harassment of residents and collection of real life information, then storing it to retrieve in world to hunt or ID "griefers" they keep in a private list. (Although not so private now)

Quite the read really.

Kara Spengler
Kalel Venkman.......

Sounds like damage control to me.

Well hello, Varspet, welcome to the forums! Interesting "first" post.

Look, Pixeleen, the Alphaville Herald, the death spiral fight between the JLU and Woodbury with sideshows by Prok and the (now extinct) Governance Team ... it's all the stuff of juvenile late-night drahmaz. When it has spilled into real life, it has been really really messy, because many of the actions taken by various participants have been so childish that it is hard for RL authorities to believe that anyone would actually spend time harassing other people in these idiotic ways.

Have fun. IBTL.

Is there supposed to be a reason why my name is before someone else's?

I think the implication, Kara, is that you've been rumbled as Superman's secret identity. I mean, the fact you have the first two letters of your names in common is pretty damning evidence, innit?

Let me guess, these are people who think Elvis is still alive and fighting robotic nazis, right? *sigh*

Actually if they REALLY wanted to have a field day I happen to share the same first name as supergirl (in both RL and at JLU). That Kara and I used to go to the same dance club and it was a running joke when people were greeting either of us.

Is there a link to download it from other than the bogus file sharing sites listed in the Aphaville Herlad article?

Oh, I've at least one friend amongst them as well - but I cant say I wasn't put off by their wiki. I can like the people but dislike some elements of their organization.

I can tell you, with a fair amount of certainty, that Kara is definitely not Kalel's alt. That would be funny, though.

Weird, I've seen tons of people having problems with the links at the herald but they worked fine for me. I only received one spam popup then was able to click and download each file. And that was after the folks there said that the site had taken them down.

The links there took me to pages that demanded I fill out some retarded survey and give them my cell phone number before downloading. I finally found one that didn't.

I, as well. But, that doesn't mean that I accept or appreciate their methods of gratifying themselves. (=_=)

And, that's what it is; self gratification. Just like the "Bay City Police Department" claiming they just wanted to help. I suggested to their 'upper rank' that they should replace the authoritarian cop garb with puppy avatars and "May I help you" float text. It would be a far more positive experience for those being helped. (=_=)

JLU is not stopping or preventing grief activities at all. They're just providing ammo for what the genuine griefers want... Attention. Virtual cops are the ultimate troll food... boosted with steroids. (^_^)y

You could have left Ruth's number from her "Online Personality Survey".. hehehe.

You're right, it would be creepy - if it were true. Having read the materials - and it was quite a chore, imagine reading an encyclopedia - they don't have any information like that on anybody, except people who decided to take griefing to a new level and do it outside of SL. The rest of it's just what people do to each other in SL, where they did it, who caught them at it, yada yada, and technical manuals on their own stuff, and details on the charities they work with.

Mostly pretty boring. Can't imagine why they think they need all that, but oh well.
