I wonder if it's illegal not to disclose to whom Linden Lab is disclosing information to..i.e. the mysterious "Third Party" that they outsourced the age varification process to. How do I know that they won't disclose that information to some 4th, 5th or 6th party to and my email gets spammed and my identity stolen. How do I check on the track record of the this "Third Party?" And besides, if they ask the last 4 of your SSN, then they already have your full SSN...which seems to me to be illegal in the first place since only employers, government organizations, banks and financial institions or licensing agencies can request that information. I know Walker Moore mentioned Integrity as the verification agency; but, unless Linden Lab actually announces it, I'll still take it as an unknown...and LL still needs to provide the information. /me sees lots and lots of lawsuits forthcoming.

Oh jeezus
There will be no lawsuits. Don't be ridiculous. On what legal grounds? Who will be suing? What are the damages? Enlighten us.
This is a OPTIONAL thing. You don't have to get verified. You can stay in non-adult parcels all you want and not have to worry about it.
So instead of wildly speculating things, take a deep breath, take a valium, and relax. The blog posting was a heads-up introduction to what will eventually be happening, not a "this is what we're doing, starting tomorrow, and you are gonna like it."
Quit clogging up the forum with yet another worthless post designed to continue your attention-whoredom.

Well figure this....LL outsources the verification process to someone..that someone sells off your information. We don't know who it is...so who would you go after??? And as for "Quit clogging up the forum with yet another worthless post designed to continue your attention-whoredom." I'm not out to garner attention...Identity protection should concern us all. As for me, well..I'll set my sim to Adult and not age verify and see if I get banned at my own home.

What's your proof that it will happen? We don't even know which third party will be handling this!! What's your proof that the yet-to-be-disclosed third party will even keep this information? For all we know, they may have a service model of "gather data, verify data, purge data." What are you basing this lawsuit crap off of, or are you pulling it out of your butt? It's speculated it will be the group that handles age verification for bud.tv. They have a great track record.

I's a paranoid schzophrenic...just because I am doesn't mean they aren't out to get me.
But, seriously... No I don't know what company is responsible for verification...and that's what scares me... could be some Mom and Pop outfit for all I know.

So... you admit that you don't know for sure who is even handling this, but you are certain lawsuits and mass data breeches are bound to follow...
Gotcha.

Always hope for the best; but assume the worst. From: Atashi Yue Same company Anheisur Busch uses. No Mom and Pop outfit. ..and this is coming from whom? Who says it is? Until LL announces the name of the company itself that is doing the verification, I'd be leary to give out such information to someone I cannot verify myself. I'm surprised that so many people take such a cavalier attitude to one's own personal identification.

I would just like to chime in here as i do have fact's
Walker Moore stated today that he had been and spoken to Lindens regarding this matter and he was told that " Integrity " IS the third party ... fact .
And Jacques ... How dare you tell any one here what he or she can't say on this forum.
Everyone here has a right to an opinion , The fact that you don't agree with it matters not one bit .... Livinda has an opinion ... if you don't like it ... hit the X button and take your head out of your ass

...and who is Simon Nolan and how did he get his information? What methods of "digging" did he use? Never assume anything, for it makes an A** out of U and ME.

I see links to other threads, links to the parent companies, and even a link to the blog ( the one announcing age verification); but I see no link to where LL actually names the company that is doing the verification. In other words, I'll take that with a grain of salt.

Sorry should have given you that first - However Simon went to the further effort of Signing up for Budweiser.tv which uses this service already Thus Testing the service. And provided links so we coudl do the same. I found that very helpful since this service supposedly is already in use that someone test it in one of its current uses.

Sorry, I can't take that one as gospel. A quote from an "alleged quote"? Unless Daniel Linden announces it himself, it remains unverified.
