From: Darkness Anubis Yes they are a privilage. But think of it this way 1000 griefers costing 10s of thousands of decent unverifieds their privilage. That just isn't right either. But think of it this way, 1000 griefers costing thousands of verifieds thousands of dollars. I'm sorry, but getting in here for free, with no known status, no known person and nothing to entail who someone is, should NOT be a privilage to start with. And frankly, I'm pretty sure that there is not 10's of thousands of unverifieds who are all separate individuals, maybe several thousand, but the majority of accounts created are alts, and griefing accounts. Online now stats used to be around 3,000 average, sometimes as much as 5 on the weekends. It's average online now has only gone up a couple of thousand, versus 400,000 new accounts. And just how many were chased away by frequent downtimes and restrictions anyways? It wasn't before, and no busniess in the world allows anyone to run a muck, do as they please, without identifying themselves. You don't walk into McDonald's, trash it, then just wave a hand a say.. "ha ha, you can't catch me and I've got friends who are gonna keep trashing this place". The McDonald's would close down without interferance from someone.

From: Takuan Daikon I wish I am glad that I got to see your wonderful creations long before I ever saw stuff like the latest grid attacks, and know that particles can be fantastically cool in addition to their less imaginative uses. Thank you! When I saw Jeska say that a "a self-replicating particle object" was involved my first thought was "Great, now we're going to have a witch-hunt against particles!" Wandering around with scripts disabled is a bizarre experience, things with particles and targetomega continue to emit and twirl... but nothing reacts. My clock, when I peeked last night at 1:45am, still said 7:15pm. The second hand was still moving though. Just creepy.

What's worrying is that my girlfriend hasn't said a word since they disabled scripts. I'm beginning to wonder if she may have been scripted all along. Or perhaps I left the toilet seat up lastnight. Yeah, that might be it... Time will tell....

From: Sinatra Cartier I just saw the object, right mouse clicked on it and chose "edit"
Maybe accounts without a credit card should have limited abilitys. For instance they cannot create objects, just shop and chat, and they cannot join or create groups.
Will that help? now that would be a bit harsh for the people enjoying the free acount thing and rent shops and have a good start in SL now wouldnt it? no CC veri has gone on for way too long for LL to do something about it... theres too many innocent new residents who never did anything and wich wil be the victem of something the Grid attackers cause... i have some friends wich are no CC residents.... So no i cant really agree on that suggestion...

From: Alazarin Mondrian Mebbe add in a small L$ bonus sweetener for existing unverified accounts to register / verify? We aready have that at signup-- if you add CC or Paypal info they start you off w/ 250L. Its not a lot, but its more than one gets otherwise. But that is no enticement to someone who signs up with disruptive behaviour in mind. I don't think shutting out unverifieds is the answer, but I do think if you have been an active player for over a month, then it would not be too much to ask a person to pony up 9.95 usd to remain active. LL deserves something for the bandwidth folks use, and if you have a computer good enough to play SL on, it is sorta silly to tell me you can't afford that. Ditto that double for those who realize the fun and benefits of content creation once they get in and mess with the tools awhile. I can see castrating certain features out of lsl until accounts are several weeks old- or even pending verification- and it may not be wholly fair to legitimate new users who want to script. However, this incessant series of grid attacks sucks the fun out of SL for both the legit new users and paying established users as well. I still don't think any of this will solve the problem if someone really feels they have an axe to grind w/ LL or if they simply have a reasonless terrorist mentality. I do know such attacks were quite rare when we had a 7 day free trial and the $9.95 charged to our CC on day 8. I hope whatever LL puts in place can bring this foolishness to a halt. It is not fun or charming. And, I promise you-- it makes it not a lot of fun to be a Linden either. Any of us can log and go do something else-- Lindens get stuck with overtime & screamed at for their efforts.
