If LL wants to support Sllib and see what new areas that can take them, then fine.... frikkin do it on a test grid somewhere. Stay the hell off the main grid with it, because there's no way at all anyone can keep it out of the hands of thieves and griefers. Just like the guy handing out free cagers to unverified noobs at the welcoming area... no common sense at all.
I haven't yet opened my store, but I was going to within a couple of days... now I wont. Some of my products have labor hours attached to them that are measured in weeks, not hours or days.

The code for the copy bot is still online it took me 10 mins of tping this morning to find a link in world to copybot code on the net ....

this is not an easy setup its a bit code head for many but its there for free ...

It was a TEST program, that's all. One of the things that libSecondLife doesn't do well yet is set up avatars. Until this, there was no way to set up an avatar's appearance. My IM program, for example, leaves my avatar with Ruth's shape and the clothing that was worn when I signed out.... and it looks pretty horrible to see my skin on Ruth's body!

Open Source programming, by its very nature, is OPEN. When someone writes a module for libSecondLife, they release a patch, which goes back to the server and is integrated to the source tree. Everyone then has access to it. You don't have to be in any group.

You say you didn't create the "copy-bot", fine... but you DID assemble the technology behind it and allow it to get loose. Irresponsible and accountable at the very least.
Your "Intensions", whether good or bad dont mean dick here buddy. You set the virus loose and people want a piece of someone... period.

By simply added a fast encryption scheme in the communication pipline. libSL will be rendered useless. If LL want to support client-side user programming, let them furnish an official API for SL Client plugins (that way user code can access only the information that SHOULD be available to them).

Remember its only again TOS till LL can have a 'watermark' on your stuff... then it will be ok to use it anytime. And the creators will have to work to PROVE that its their stuff and that they didnt give permission for others to copy... that is IF you can get LL to listen to you at all.

That's what Blizzard Entertainment uses to keep people from hacking World of Warcraft. Yea you might not want a piece of spyware checking what your running, but if you play WoW you've already had it. LL needs to do something. This can't go on. Duping Items in WoW is a finable offence. Why not here? I know SL isn't a game but it runs on the same concept. (Massive), (Multiplayer), (Online), Environment. I admit i don't play WoW anymore, but it isn't because of the bot. It's because of the idiots and kids...
