I ran the main viewer since the January problems with the statistics window open and a standalone framerate counter (fraps) and have used the newest firstlook about an hour and it is better. With a Pentium Mobile 4 and Nvidia 64meg Go card
and am getting 10 - 50% better framerates and smoother vehicle motion. They may be making up for the hosed network with the viewer but it's working and the only problem so far is using low res land details it takes forever to load the land texture.
Switching to high res it pops up like it was already loaded.
