And good for you, Lorna, keeping this poor man's identity to yourself. It must be hard enough growing up in the 70s and 80s, as he did, with immigrant parents who have such bad accents that it affected him when he was young.
And Bulgarian, you say? Transylvania? I'll tell you, and I know this from experience, getting past that accent is difficult. I think this man should be applauded for what mastery of English he has!
Well done, "Billy"! If you're reading this, rest assured that we're with you and support you in your efforts to fit in. Don't quit SL because people keep harassing you because of how you speak. They just don't understand.

Perhaps it's the latest fetish to hit Second Life.... Linguisticplay?

Nothing wrong with a few cunning linguists, that's for sure.

As I explained, "Billy" told me his parents were from Transylvania, thats why his writing and behaviour was sometimes eccentric.

Thanks for a great post! It's fascinating to see how way too serious we are in the forums. (Did you know the word "gullible" isn't listed in any English dictionary?)

Normally I discourage sarcasm on forums, newsgroups, mailing lists, etc. because without intonation and body language, it's difficult to do well and easy to misinterpret. Many a flame war has been ignited over a spark of sarcasm.

But this stuff is just so good, keep it up!

I liked the part where OP couldn't tell 2 years from 3... must be that SL day night cycle effect. I also like how, as an alleged female player in SL.. she would ALLOW her best buddy to look like "that" for 2 years (or 3 as the story states). MOreover, I can't really beleive that anyone would be in SL for 2 years and not see enough avatars on the grid to either go "OMG what was I thinking" and run out and get a new shape... or else if it was a minor, not yet have on a full compliment of ninja gear after 2 years.

The prologue was fairly engrossing though, and until I got to the leet speek part I was willing to at least "suspend my disbeleif. Thing was though... "parental controls say I've played too much".... and the teller is still questioning?

Your approach to political commentary is intriguing, but I have yet to be able to discern on which side of the issue, your arguments fall.

rofl With both posts, you had me going for a while, Lorna.
Thanks for a good laugh. I recently did kind of panic for a moment when a very new friend told me she was 16. I guess my reaction was partly from years of working with youths and being constantly reminded of the need to avoid any danger of accusations of impropriety, and partly because of the recent discussions about the German laws etc. And mainly because she kept begging me for a job in a way that didn't make her seem like a particularly mature 16 year old. And some of the av's I've met I would not want to run into while I was with a child.

Of course who knows how old she (or really he?) actually is. After all everything is illusion in SL.

Sorry, ZK. I've been taken in by that dictionary joke myself. That's why I shared it with all y'all. I thought everyone had heard it.

But if you want to go through with the m-s thing, I know of a great BDSM/Kasino/Ageplayfurry club that sits at about 700 meters high in the Glinda Sim. We can use a "hold hands" animation and then fling ourselves over the edge. Oh, wait. I don't splat when I freefall in SL. Nevermind.

"age verification" wont verify anything,
it's EASIER and LESS TRACEABLE to steal your parents drivers license.

So yeah, unavoidable situation.

Here's the key: Don't fall in "internet love", meet your mate IRL, it's better.

Bottom line here: ON the Internet, no-one has to know you're an airedale...
