I tried searching for it on the Search tab but yielded no results. Has this been scrapped?

I heard that big changes were in store for the First Land program, possibly even including cancelling it, but not certain what the change might be or when. Anyone have any more details on this?

The First Land For New Residents Programme

"Why can't I find First Land?
First Land is available on a first-come, first-served basis. It's not guaranteed to be available if you have a Premium Account, but it is nice to have as a starter parcel, because 512 m2 for L$512 is a great price. Currently, First Land is created almost daily in limited supply, and tends to be bought extremely quickly. You can check for it from the Search > Land Sales tab and change the "All Types" dropdown menu to "First Land". If it says "None found.", please try again soon. The scarcity of First Land is understandably confusing and frustrating. In response to scaling with increased growth and demand, there are going to be some significant changes coming to First Land. Please keep checking the Official Linden Blog for updates from our Land Team!" THIS IS NOT GOOD ENOUGH! THE ONLY REASON I UPGRADED WAS TO BUY FIRST LAND, NOW I CAN'T FIND ANY. THIS IS MISSLEADING AND OBTASINING MONEY BY FALSE PRETENCES, I HAVE BEEN TRICKED INTO SUBSCRIBING TO GAME BASED ON FALSE INFORMATION. |

I don't find that mis-leading. However, they should be a note that you can sign up for a preimum account during the purchase of your first land.

My partner just got first land. One of the few that wasn't a sockpuppet for a real estate mogul.
You can't sign up for premium when you're buying first land. It's bugged and locks up and fails. You need to go back into the website and subscribe first. |

Ramesses, where and when were you promised, mislead or tricked into thinking that you were guaraneteed to be able to buy First Land? here: http://secondlife.com/community/land-getyours.php Land: Get Your Land Residents can acquire land in several ways: First Land Second Life's "First Land" program allows Residents to purchase their first parcel of land below the current market value. Parcels are 512 square meters and sell for L$1 per meter to those who have never owned land. Please note: First Land plots are subject to availability. A snapshot of the available land can be viewed by: * Go into SL and click on the Search button * Select the Land Sales tab * Select "First Land" from the pull-down menu and hit "Search" * When you find a plot you like, teleport to it and buy it on the spot |

Ramesses, where and when were you promised, mislead or tricked into thinking that you were guaraneteed to be able to buy First Land? and here: "Premium members who have never owned any land at all and have never contributed their allowance to a group that owned land - are eligible to buy First Land. These 512m plots are made available at a very low price - just L$1 per meter, so costing L$512 to buy. You can use the Search Window to locate First Land plots - on the Land Sales tab choose First Land from the dropdown upper left of the window and untick the checkboxes." |

Wrong. In neither case were your promised, misled, or tricked into anything. The places you quote clearly tell you that you are merely eligble to buy First Land, and that your ablity to buy First Land is subject to availability. Moreover you have also provided us with this quote: "First Land is available on a first-come, first-served basis. It's not guaranteed to be available if you have a Premium Account." This all seems very clear to me and I fail to see where you were tricked.

Please note: First Land plots are subject to availability. There's the catch unfortunately. I'm still waiting to buy a first land to play around with too. ![]() |

I recommend that people don't waste their time on upgrading to Premium or looking for First Land for a few months. Linden Labs is still apparently catching up after the rush of sims ordered before the November 15th price increase, and until they do they won't have any great tracts of First Land available.
On the other hand, there's plenty of Island land to rent, and you should be able to find a parcel to rent that's larger, nicer, and possibly even cheaper than the Premium account you need for First Land. |

"You can use the Search Window to locate First Land plots - on the Land Sales tab choose First Land from the dropdown upper left of the window and untick the checkboxes." Plus you could have verified the existance (or not) of First Land for sale by doing a search before you upgraded your membership. That's what I did, concluded that the supply was very limited, and then bought non first land somewhere else (yes I know I missed my chance to make $20 by flipping, but I can live with my guilt thanks). I agree with the others, I don't see that you were deliberately mislead. In any event as in most things in SL: caveat emptor. |

Just before Christmas, in the late hours of the night (Eastern time), lots and lots of first land kept popping up in my searches when I bought mine. Try looking for it at odd hours. Also, if you don't want to wait, land prices have been starting to come down a bit from where they were.
Technically you are supposed to be able to upgrade your account when you purchase your First Land, which is what I tried to do, but kept getting failure messages. I was fortunate enough to have a quick connection and upgraded my account from the SL website just in time. |

Yesterday I sold my parcel of First Land and found a new spot that I bought. While I was doing that (buying it), I was told that this were the first piece of land I was going to buy and I'd better look for First Land... Does this mean, that when I sell all my land, I can buy another parcel of First Land!?
That would be a great business, buying it for 512 L$, selling it for 11,000 L$. Then buying another parcel, selling it and so on. Well, at least until others realize that this works and IF (not when) First Land would be available ![]() |

Congratulations Neal, you've just found out what the first-land swoopers have been up to.

Sadly the late hours of the night there in PST and EST, are my working daylight hours here in the UK, so Im guessing if thats the common time for it to go on sale, Im always going to be disappointed? Ive been performing searches on first land, every 10 mins or so all the time Ive been online in SL for the last 2 weeks and Ive never had a single search result returned. It is disappointing, Ill just keep trying. |
