Hiya i just took a peak too while i wait for my food to cook a few things and I think its probaly been said 1) need better photos he is in the adult section you can take his clothes off use a coloured circle etc so you can see as much as possible in a pg area 2) he does need a demo version especialy since vital parts of him are covered up like the neck area 3) the neck area has a necklace or something on it for me as someone who knows about skins this might indicate that there is a large seam there (i could be wrong but only a demo will show me) 4) sales are not great on slx and are much more robust inworld if you set stuff up right. Need to give yourself a name of some kind and a little logo and sign etc. Good photos properly set up etc Basically as a creator you need to learn to market yourself Also and I didn't look but is a shape included? if so make sure that's indicated somewhere on your photo ads. I put a lot of words on my photo ads so that I can use them on boxes. I dont embelish or sharpen photos so everything is pretty much what you see is what you get but I do try to make stuff look stylish. he needs to loose the white undies and the necklace and hair for sure and you need a demo version of the skin. hope this isn't too harsh. I have gotten some awesome skins for 200L so its not a bad price and I dont think its too low I dont go by price tag i mean if i can find something good quality for 200L why would i pay 5k?

with the amount of time I put in making a Poser skin someone would have to pay 5k for 0ne SL skins are easier; note I didn't say easy.

From: Manstan Beaumont "A nice photoshopped ad" having dealt with Poser content for a while I try to avoid this. Nothing like buying something based on a picture in the add, to find out there was more photo shop to the add then to the content I would like to use only SL snap shots, that way people know what it looks like in SL not in PSP. But there is no reason I can't set up a photo studio with complementary lighting to make the adds. I didn't mean alter the skin itself, but showing it in a more professional way. You'll do a lot better if you take the picture on a plain background (typically white), with good lighting, a nice pose, take a few different views (full body, back, face close up, ect), compose them onto 1 image, add some text like name and permissions, and add a background (preferably plain colours).

here are a couple examples of ads I make, one is my own stuff another is for someone else, I do no retouch, only composite them into one image http://www.lindensforsale.com/images/secondlife/banglead.jpgand http://www.lindensforsale.com/images/secondlife/pink%20clouds%20ad.jpgthese images are large so be warned this is just an example of ways to advertise your items, a nice ad does a lot for displaying the product

From: Mickey James Also, providing a free demo is just about required. Very few people are going to buy a skin they can't try on first. Just make a copy with a big green DEMO stamped on the forehead and make it available for L$0 or L$1. I've seen those demo buttons in stores before. I always wondered how they could possibly demo such items. So they are the full skins with DEMO stamped across the forehead? Wouldn't cheap asses (campers like me. :/ ) just go around wearing the demo? Now that I think about it I think I have seen someone wearing a demo skin. There must be some other kind of limitation on the demo skins I'm not getting.

From: Nimue Jewell Are the textures really no mod/no copy/no transfer? Who would buy textures marked in the ad as no perms?

thanks Osprey Therian, I thought I had changed that to copy and mod. XPlorR Moore my demos will have my name on them, all 3 pieces. So if some just wants to run around in the demo skin they can. They want to be a billboard fine with me "I didn't mean alter the skin itself, but showing it in a more professional way." What I'm talking about is actually photo shopping the add render, as in retouching the picture of the item so the item looks much better then it actually is. Or rendering the items in a program other then the one they are designed for so they look much better then they would in the actual program. Like airbrushing the playboy models photos. It seems this sort of misrepresentation of poser content is quite common. And wrong. Thanks everyone I am working on it, and will hopefully have a more pro looking pic/add up today.

There must be some other kind of limitation on the demo skins I'm not getting. That's basically the only limitation. I also add a "Demo" inscription and my company logo to the upper body; some people might not need a face (thinking of fetish masks). If someone is happy with a demo skin and doesn't mind a tattooed forehead, or finds a hairstyle that covers the inscripted area... *shrugs* I can't help it. I never met anyone wearing a demo skin, but I know that the demos help my sales.

Yeah I got burned early in life here by buying cheap skins with no demos... now I never buy skins or hair without trying a demo first. And honestly, like several people have mentioned, skins are perceived value... if you think it's only worth L$200, then some people wouldn't bother looking at it because it's priced TOO low. That might sound snobby, but I honestly to prefer to buy an excellent skin for L$1500 or so if I know that it's good.

I have rechecked the enable mature content 3 times at SLExchange and still all I see listed by manstan beaumont is 20 earth textures.

Sorry, I dropped the tribal tat skin. Figured it was way strange for most people. Anf I turned off the skin texture till I get the chance to make the demo and put it up. Ya I know all I have to do is put demo on it, but no, not me, I got to get fancy. I was hoping to have it up to night, but RL has had me busy to day.

But there is no reason I can't set up a photo studio with complementary lighting to make the adds. Having stuff on SLX for me is just a means to an end. the store being the end. I have a long list of items to sell. mostly textured stuff; skins, clothes, and textures. I'm still learning the limits of SL modeling; about 6 steps back from what I am used to Got too much going on right now to wip out a skin demo, but once that is done... I like your suggestions Luth Brodie, and will be working on them. Luth Brodie is the TOP of the TOP Posemakers in SL, she is well respected and I suspect very successful in her niche. -- Using PS on your ad doesnt mean you're lying to your customers It means you care about your products enough to make a good presentation. -- Advertising and Marketing are sometimes more than half the work, especially when starting out. If you are serving a feast for the King it is NOT about only about the Food and you CANNOT serve it on plastic containers. Presentation is sometimes the most important factor.. it's also the first impression your customer recieves when first arriving at your store. If your presentation and store is attractive they will be more likely to associate with your brand. After that, your products and market value against your competitors will be the next step. -- Luth is also right about bargain pricing. If you KNOW your product is GOOD and have checked out the competition don't undersell yourself. I've well spent 1-2k on skins all the time rather than buying a 250 skin under the impression it may be low priced because its low quality. Concerning skin while its not wise to touch the actual skin on the ad you can compliment the ad and visuals somehow. -- Besides, whatever the ad fails to do a skin DEMO should have the final sale.
