what heppen dese days with messages about stilling money....i recive a few of warnings...

can anyboday have eplanation

whatever ...is that possible ... ?

this is some of warnings wich i recive ..
FIRST ONE:
- *** *****is sending a scripted dance ball to people and if you click it and say YES to animate your avatar...all your lindens will go to her. I think this will be a growing problem and also a problem that LL wont help much with either. Be sure you know who things are from. If something you have wants to animate your avatar that you are unsure of...decline it and get rid of it...I cant tell you what it was called it poofed right after...Be careful.

(i censured with "***" person name in case someboday wanna make stupid joke with someboday)

NEXT ONE:
- If someone offers you an Object called "prize say yes" do not accept it or rez it, in fact remove it from your trash after your deny it. It will steal your money and keep stealing it until you delete the object. This was just reported to me. Please Inform your friends of this scam nd remember never to accept anything from people you do not know.

is that possible.. ?

i just copy paste what i recive in world....

tnx and good luck ;)

This is not possible. An item cannot take your money without asking permission specifically to take your money. However, beware that the requester used to ask for permission to take your money looks similar to that used to ask for permission to animate you, so check carefully what you are saying yes to. Either way, a script can't take money from anyone other than its owner.

This is possible, although as before the item would have to ask permission.

Never grant debit permissions to an object you do not completely trust.

In either of the two cases mentioned in the original post, the most reasonable thing to do is to delete the items immediately.

Just as with email, you should treat unsolicited inventory offers from people you don't know as malicious, and get rid of them immediately without ever rezzing them or granting them ANY permissions.

I would very much like to see LL implement "junk mail" controls for inventory offers, where I would be able to set a flag that says that inventory from anybody not in my friends list goes straight to a "spam" folder. I could then choose, on a per-instance basis, whether I trust that particular inventory offer enough to move it from the "junk" folder. And anything that stays in the junk folder for more than 7 days is deleted automatically, and anything deleted from the junk folder is purged automatically and permanently.

Ivan,
What Yumi said.... but only to a point.
No object can act from within your inventory; This includes your trash.

Think about this. If a script could run from inside your inventory, then all those scripts in your script folder would be running right now.

It'd only be possible if the item was rezzed and given permissions.
Having the item in your inventory or trash folder would leave the scripts in a non running state so they couldn't take money.

Good grief, the way it's getting spammed in world, I'd almost wonder if it's a scam of it's own. It's annoying that's for sure, because many are coming through group IM's rather than just simple word of mouth. It's annoying the crud out of me, in between the normal SL issues.

It is very simple. If a dialogue opens and says "... would like to take money from you, is this ok?" when you don't expect it, click no.

Problem solved.

Yes, objects 'stealing' money exist, so we should all be aware of the fact that we should not give debit permission to just anything and anyone. But these hysterical warnings? Even naming names (inworld anyway) and asking you to 'pass the message along' without knowing anything about the accused? Please, we've all had email for a while. You know those hoax virus warnings that spread like wildfire? This is just the hoax virus warning of SL, and it's doing what these things do best: spreading like wildfire because people are more than happy to pass on alarmist warnings without knowing anything about the original source of the warning. There are some griefers out there having the time of their lives watching people panic over this.

I've been getting warnings about this too. Not sure if it's a pass it on fake message like the many emails that get sent around or whether it's genuine but I'd err on the side of caution.

The question is: which side is caution? Is participating in a witch hunt when a griefer figures out this is a ridiculously easy way to take someone out of commission caution? Is deleting innocent stuff from your inventory caution? Is muting people just because someone heard from someone who heard from someone said so caution?

I prefer to use caution and knowledge. An object can't take money from you if you have not given it permission to do so at least once. Once you give that permission, yes, you can get short-changed and lose way more money than you anticipated spending. But only if you did give permission in the first place. An object cannot just take your money without the system asking for confirmation. In some cases the amount will be unclear (object asking for debit permissions) and in certain land deals the amount in the confirmation may just be wrong (bot changing the amount while you are confirming) but without some form of confirmation no money exchanges hands. Like the hoax virus warnings, the warning messages are the actual virus, causing all the harm.

Animator that steals your cash?

Posted May 15th 2007 2:17PM by Eloise Pasteur
Filed under: News

With the speed of a evil smell, rumours are spreading of a scam for those that don't read carefully.

The rumour goes that someone is sending out a dance animator. When you rez it, it asks for permission and if you say yes, it takes your money. Given the dialog box you click yes on will also, if true, ask for permission to take your money, all I can say is be careful what you click today. ......T

Ah so do I Suzy, but this is the first time I've come across this in SL. I'm fairly new. When it's one of those emails I'm straight off to Snopes to see what they say about it. As I don't have the knowledge here I'm not in a position to suggest what to do so I err on caution.

Take me across the water 'cause I need some place to hide.
I done the rancher's daughter and I sure did hurt his pride.
Oo-oo oo-oo ah ah ah
oo-oo oo-oo ah ah ah.
Well, there's a hundred miles of desert lies between his hide and mine.
I don't need no food, no water, Lord, 'cause I'm running out of time.
Fightin', killin', wine and women gonna put me to an early grave.
Runnin', hidin', losin', cryin'. nothing left to save
but my life.
Oo-oo oo-oo ah ah ah
oo-oo oo-oo ah ah ah.
Stood on a ridge and shunned religion thinking the world was mine.
I made my break and a big mistake, stilling when I should have been buying.
All that fightin', killin', wine and women gonna put me to an early grave.
Runnin', hidin', losin', cryin', nothing left to save
but my life, life, life, life, life, life, life, life, life.
So I stood on a ridge and stunned religion thinking the world was mine.
I made my break and a big mistake, stilling when I should have been buying.
I was stilling when I should have been buying,
I was stilling when I should have been buying.
STILLING when I should have been buying
STILLING when I should have been buying
STILLING when I should have been buying
STILLING when I should have been buying
STILLING woo
STILLING hahaha, yeh
I was STILLING when I should have been buying
STILLING oh yeh yeh yeh yeh yeh
STILLING oo-oo-oo-oo-oo-oo-oo
STILLING rock'n'roll, alright
STILLING rock'n'roll, alright
STILLING babe, babe
STILLING should, should, should have been buying
STILLING should, should, should have been buying
STILLING should have, should have, should have been buying
STILLING buying, yeah .
