There doesn't seem to be anyplace left where I can ask a Linden this and expect to recieve a timely response, so.... what do you good people think?

I've developed a Pirate Treasure Hunt amoung the caves and reefs in Rua. The treasure course includes coins that give lindens to the finders and free to take treasure at varioius points to anyone who can find it. I would like to add attack sharks, piranaha and pirate ghosts to part of the course, to "protect" the treasure and clue sites. Not to damage anyone but just to make it a little more exciting, gently bump them around a little bit. Stir up a little blood in the water.

Rua is a PG sim. I believe that if the land is set to allow damage, then we can bump to our hearts content, even kill visitors, which these sharks can do. How odd, PG will allow killing but not loving, but I digress.

We don't want to enable damage because that would encourage griefers. We dont want to kill our guests, just make things more interesting for them. We need to keep outside scripts enabled so scuba and mermaids can do thier things. I could put up warning signs or message givers to warn people, I have put warnings in the treasure hunt clues, but there is no way to know for sure that somone won't drop in out of the sky into the middle of a "protected" area.

Can we bump people around a little bit without encurring the wrath of the TOS police?

To my interpretation, push limitations were based on client-breaking pushes and not "move you 3m" pushes.

In all the debates, no one ever complained about physical, pushing elevators; indeed, they were used as an example of why push should exist.

I think you are safe. If you want to cover your ass you can make the player's assent to pushes part of the game instructions. That would remind me of "warning: strobe lights will be used briefly in this stage play" which kinda kills the surprise. I recommend you not stoop to this, but given how caprecious LL justice can be...

Upon further reading, it appears that SL is catapulting players all by itself. You can always claim it was the system. ;)
