Catapulting Poseballs

I'm building an item with a selection of poses. For some reason some of the poses are catapulting avatars up to 10 meters from the object when they stand up. On some of the poses I've been able to fix this simply by tweaking their exact placement a bit. But on others the problem seems persistent.
Couple of questions:
Is anyone else noticing this?
I've had some advice that this may be new behaviour in the client, and therefore hopefully something which will be patched. Has anyone else observed this?
Is there a scripting way around this, or any other workaround, such as a way to force an avatar in a particular direction when they stand? I'm thinking that perhaps by forcing someone half a meter forward I might be able to avoid them getting thrown 10 meters back.
I have noticed that unlinking the poseballs means they do not tend to do this. But for something I want to sell, unlinked poseballs are not ideal.
Thanks in advance for any comments.

No solution I'm afraid, but yes, I've also noticed this, at times bad enough to launch me offworld. It seems to be a relatively recent phenomenon and happens with items I've used successfully for a long time without any problems so I'd guess it's a problem with SL rather than anything to do with the specific item. Incidentally I've had it happen with scripted single prims as well, and strangely enough in one or two cases I've had a chair orbit someone and register me as having pushed them with a script for no apparent reason. It also doesn't seem to happen just when someone stands up. I've both seen it happen and had it happen to me seemingly randomly. As to using push, I tried that with one item, applying a small push along with an unsit command when they sat in MY chair . While it was amusing, from time to time it would catapult people off the sim. I think we'll just have to live with it for the moment. Max

Darn, I wish I remember what the issue was. I recall a thread about people being catapulted off of patio furniture or something like that, but forget what the reason was why that happens.

This problem has been around a long time. I've noticed it seems to be worse in situations where the script is in, or the poseball is near prims that have been heavily modified, the more modifications from the base prim, the worse the catapult. YMMV

For me it's the camera

This only ever happens to me when I've changed the camera view from default and the amount it throws me is in line with the amount of zoom etc.... i've tested this and works every time... for me anyway.

I have noticed this when the pose ball prim is in close proximity to a wall or overhang. If I move the chair about a bit I can usually find a sweet spot that eliminates the launch vector. Not sure if this helps as a work around but it works for me.

Try changing the horizontal rotation a little in either direction and see if that helps. I have a piece of furniture that sends me flying across the sim at 30° but works fine at 35° .

I just discovered tonight it's directly related to the size of the poesball. The smaller I made the poseball, the higher I was launched. This makes sense considering LL's Energy system, where smaller objects gain energy faster. So to avoid catapulting poseballs, make the ball bigger...

The "catapulting" is a good thing to a certain degree i.e. when standing from a helicopter or similar enclosed vehicle..if you were to simply stand up you would be trapped inside the structure and need to select something outside to sit on to escape, but obviously 10m or more is a touch excessive )

For smooth, soft dismounts and to cure objects that trap or catapult an av, make the object that has the poseballs phantom.

From: Razitra Artizar For smooth, soft dismounts and to cure objects that trap or catapult an av, make the object that has the poseballs phantom. you beat me to it. I was thinking of making it phantom of for a couple seconds after a person stands. I'm not sure if switching it to phanton will eject the person while they are sitting on it. will have to test later to night. so what is wrose falling thru the chair or being ejected halfway across the room?

You don't fall through the chair while using the poseball, though you can walk through it.
