There's, uh, probably a lot of things you didn't know about lindens. Another, another interesting, uh, lindenism, uh, there are only three jobs available to a linden. The first is making shoes at night while, you know, while the old cobbler sleeps. You can bake cookies in a tree. But the third job, some call it, uh, "the show" or "the big dance," it's the profession that every linden aspires to.

I found that reading that Register "article" in my best Comic Book Guy voice made it more fun to read. The article itself was pure crap.

I've seen the light!
Come, let us accuse others of living sad and pathetic lives. We'll make the world a better place. the hell is the register? A silly little blogish site believing themselves to be reporters and people who make some kind of a difference. I would say they have outworn thier 15 mins of fame but I don't believe they cashed in the first minute yet. Bah.. useless rants of people who truly are escaping reality in thinking themselves superior. If it was in paper form I would go buy a bird to line it's cage with so it could have a proper respect given it. _____________________

What a bunch of crap! There are many people in Second Life who do care for real world problems and dedicate their time and money to the causes. Just to name a few: there are Relay for Life and Toys for Tods fund raiser events, there was fund raising going for many many weeks all over the map for Kathrina victims last year. There's U2 in SL and various live artists with awareness and charity concerts, there's people like Josh who pull off charity sales. There are groups that support ONE.org, MakePovertyHistory.org, AfricanWellFund.org, various health and other support groups and whatever not. And I'm pretty sure there are many more people out there in SL who did and do something on a regular basis to support all kinds of causes because their real life is affected by "the problems of the real world". Mr Taylor obviously didn't do alot of research and exploring, before putting down his fancy gadgets. They are here to remind us? ![]() It's true that I try to escape real world for some time when I log into SL. I do it to relax, to forget my worries, to have some fun, some peace of mind. It's the same as reading a book or watching a movie or going for a skydive or having dinner with friends. By doing stuff like that I am NOT trying to ESCAPE the problems of the real world...no no, I am trying to FORGET them for a little while, just a little while, to prevent me from going insane. And when I'm done forgetting them in SL, I still stay logged in and work on some stuff to support projects in SL, projects like those mentioned above. And I'm damn sure so do many others. Mr Taylor seems to be an oblivious clown. May he take his counters, shove them and get the hell outta SL and go back to saving the world in real world. Leave the SL stuff to the real world escapees, who at least have their "metaversial act" together and do their things, even without counters. Do you assume the Author of that article and his associates are Not Fully Aware of everything you just said? It's Called Trolling. He Knows he's distorting facts, but his supposed cause isn't really the issue for him, What is the Issue is to make the Biggest Pain in the *ss of himself as he can, and so get the most people Possible Yelling at him. It's a Vain and Cynical attempt to get attention, and i for one will not provide him any beyond this Comment. I see through him like Glass, and i'm Not Impressed. Angel. |

Thank you everyone for posting but this thread does not meet the criteria for the "Resident Answers" forum. It would be better placed in a General Forum (unfortunately there isn't on the SL forums).
