So my parcel is in Triphosa and I'm seeing a bunch of dollar bill poofers spreading all over. The originating area of the bills is replicating as well, so that eventually sims will become overloaded, possibly - unless the griefer account (Wringer Albanes) is setting them down manually. This is happening in other sims from what I've been told as well.
The fact that dollar bills are being used makes me want to think it's a protest sort of thing from people who used to make money with casinos, maybe?

People need to turn No build on, No object entry etc, put on auto return and send out ARs. There is a post in the technical forum of someone else getting attacked. Anyone here know a Linden on that they can let know about this? Maybe they can get a handle on it before it gets out of control

Always an item on someones lot that had build and scripts enabled for the general populace. Some type of organized cry for attention is going on. And BTW, yes I have land in Triphosa too and was able to get the land owner next door to clear those dollar bill poofers. _____________________

Was told people should go ahead and AR them, if you can get the owner name off it. If you can't get the name, it's one that they've already taken care of and the spam should go away before long. The ones I've ARed all had different owner names. Blank profiles, born today. |

Griefer Attacks just another form of Denial of service

These attacks on the grid are classified as a denial of service attack, anyone remember the good old DOS attack from IRC days. It is a federal offense in the untied states to do so. The Lindens should be tracking down these people anyways , and working with the isps, (cable and phone companies) to trace which of their subscribers are doing this. for to ban a whole ip-addy woudl knock off whole groups, like comcast, verizon, quest and other service providers.

I say, go for it. If these idiots keep it up, sooner or later LL will be driven to going after their IP addresses to shut them down. The sooner the better. It was in my sim and some surrounding as well. Time between my AR en time it was solved was so short that they must have been working on it. I am no expert on the matter, but I do remember from my IRC OP-time that IP-banning is not really effective and may effect not involved people. It seems to be very easy to forge a IP-number. Then at some providers you change IP-number at connecting. And as last, when you ban on a part of the IP-number you may ban a big group of people who have nothing to do with the matter. Morwen. |
