I just read a thread in the Tech foum that had disturbed me, If I (hopefully not) read it correctly. The OP said that LLL stated that since the Billing i now handles by and offshore bank (US wise) that an extra "Foreign Transaction Fee " is being charged when purchasing Lindens? Please, someone say I have totally misread this. Or is this for cashing out?

Billing is now handled by an off-shore bank?

Since when?

And why? I've always had the impression that things handled by off-shore banks were kind of shady.

And does this mean things are going to cost us more? And if so, what things?

And where is this information from?

I just read that post. I haven't seen any added fees and I just cashed out some lindens this week.

Maybe someone has more info...

Oh, I'm in the US by the way.

I just looked at the fees charged on the Lindex, nothing is changed there...still a 30 cent charge to buy.

Bank in UK - well, that's not quite what I would think of as an "offshore bank."

Anyway, I'm not clear at all on why they did this, or what it means to us in terms of what it will cost.

For example, if I sell money on the Lindex (which I do), will it cost more?

Could you have gotten mixed up with a post made by the SL casinos that are moving their operations to 'off shore banking'?....... j/k

I think.. this would be for the processing of credit, if it is true. The bank wouldn't care the least about the L transactions, such as buying and selling. Think about it: Even buying L, it would only hit the bank in a mass daily transaction, not one at a time. Selling L goes the same way, except on the seller's end, the money stays in the Linden accounts until you process the credit. The bank doesn't charge for deposits, but cutting checks and/or crediting paypal/credit cards, it probably does.
