This is what I was told when I inquired about receiving Foreign tranasctions fees all of a sudden on money i purchased, LL informed me they are now a "global" company so they had to change banks to one in the UK. I NEVER post but I am so pissed right now i could scream, So casually he says they are now an international company, before you can become a "global international" force LL, you need to work on the platform you are providing the customers such as myself, I am not a designer or builder or dancer or whatever else, I come to SL for entertainment, I work all day , that is my down time, the bloody place is filled with so much lag one can barely walk or tp with out your hair landing in your butt. I walked into a BORDER's the other day and what do I se on the shelf of new releases but " The unofficial guide to SL", there promoting this and bragging about all the new residents when you cant even attend a frigging club with 25 ppl without being so lagged you can barley walk. LL was so causal about the new fees also like " oh well we changed banks so guess you'll be paying a new fee" I like my SL but things like this make me rethink my premium account.

yes depending on your bank, I am with WAMU and I purchased 48 US dollars in lindens and was charged .48 cents for a 'foreign currency fee' from my bank because LL's bank is now based in the UK. sucks right.

0.46 cents for $44 transaction isn't that bad, its barley anything.
Its easier for people in the UK as well as you pay about half the price for linden as the currency exchange rate from dollars to pounds in about half. So for $44 I would pay £22 which is not that much really.

Yup, that's true. When I paid the monthly fee, my bank (WAMU) called to ask if the transaction is authorized because it was processed in London???!!! For a moment I just freaked out, I do not remember any announcement, they just did it quietly :/ LL is an American company, they definitely can work with American banks directly, sooo, moving ALL their operations to England have to be very profitable for THEM...

Uhm... You guys do know that currently the majority of SL residents are outside of the USA, right? So no matter where SL's banking is based, some people are going to have to deal with foreign transaction fees.
It would be graceful of the Lindens if they figured out a way to include those fees in the actual linden purchase, so everybody knows how much they are really paying for the $L they buy instead of finding out after the fact. But the fact remains, if some banks and credit card companies charge foreign transaction fees, somebody is going to have to pay for them.
