From the bottom of page they said if you mark your property residential in search they won't send the bots there.
But I wonder what about those of who don't have our properties in search because it's "residential" and we don't want to advertise it?

All true, especially if they are tapping into the SL search which does allow us to opt in for each item on a parcel. If however this thing is using bots to scan our respective parcels and list each object on the parcel, that might be an issue.

So that's what 'Bot1 Smit' was doing on my land last week.

i don't see any images beyond logos that exist within the land profiles settings.

Seen them on Livingtree, too.

I posted a thread about this site a couple weeks ago and all I got told here was basically too bad, suck it up, copybot happens.

I then filed an abuse report about having my textures ripped and displayed on the site by their bot, but LL never did anything about it. So apparently this is a-okay with LL.

Some of my textures that were ripped did NOT come out of my profile. I put out a bot banning script, but they still have my stuff on their site, though it hasn't been updated lately.

copybot banning scriptsd are just an annoying bad joke.

everytime I see the 3 lines SHOUTING.
"low spam...." (jeah, the irony fails you)
"low lag..." (i bet all my linden its lagging more than the copybot itself)
"copybot protection" (as in, it fails to protect anything, so why use it)

it just makes me giggle.

so yeah. copybot is back, it actually was never gone far.
so yeah, LL cant do much about it, so it wont.
so yeah, SL is nice for pilot projects but a failure on serious commercial ventures.
so yeah, I could do awesome sculpted prims, but chose to focus on scripting instead, mostly because of openGLs weakness copy protecting textures.

Interestingly on this site I discovered under my name a shop that is selling for L$20 the 60 'freebie' sculpty maps I had on my land for free!

That website (SLBrowser) is it only displaying the textures or what? I have only been able to access a few pages but virtually all of my designs are listed there. Just a casual question. It appears harmless enough but I guess I wouldnt know until I see something that I created being sold elsewhere at a heavily reduced price.

Actually, I just looked up the stuff for my small inconsequential shop and rental group I set up. It looks to me that the textures used from my places either came from the textures from the groups I set up or from one of the classified ads. I have done no other advertising nor have I really added anyone to my groups...so I find this very very odd. While the groups have been around awhile, the land i just purchased less then 30 days ago. I find this very disconcerting.

I told you! This guy is a total troll! That's why I muted his azz.

Now...back on topic, all I see are a bunch of red X's....I don't understand this site and how it poses a threat because there's no way to get at the textures..at least as far as my pied eyes can see.

you are confusing a web site of photos with a program that copies things.

Since I placed the antibot script on my land, all vendor images have disappeared from my listing on SLBrowser. It still shows the items for sale, which I don't mind, but it shows no images, apart from the ones used in my sl classifieds.

The antibot script is available from the slbrowser site and it does work, for me anyway. Problem with the script is that you need to follow the directions and you need to use a separate one for each parcel.

I havent checked, but it would be nice if it stopped all bots from using the land

I exist now in search engine because I have some freebie hand painted wood but they don't have the photo of it there.

I had these slbrowser bots buzzing around my rental homes & my home all the time..its residential, nothing for sale..the land is residential only also and marked/listed as such. The bot is SO fast it can get past any type of security, orb etc..this annoyed my residents, as it would just suddenly POP up in their homes and whizz off before they could see what or who it was.

So i contacted its operator..whio fudged about a bit at first then agreed to take off the sim we're on from her list. I havent been visited since by one of these bots since.

For that reason, it is a good tool for me. I do not condone anyone or anything that steals. I suspect things like textures would be a problem and can see peoples point of view here.

Another Opt-out, Ban the bots having questionable results, scan without asking, spybot.

Its easier to get google not to index you, and it cant get past access restrictions. (I don't think)

Hey guys. You know this is nothing to be worryed about. this slbrowser thing is not taking your images. Any texture in sl can be pulled up on the web by key using sl's search at http://secondlife.com/app/image/THEKEY/2
Linden Labs has decided making these textures availible for search at a reduced resolution and watermarked is ok.. I don't beleave that but hey.
