They won't, but it's endlessly entertaining for people to discuss, I think

Why would they ban escorts? They won't but I'd wager they'll try and hide them. |

Why would they ban escorts? Its aginst the law in the USA just like gambling and lots of people ie the morility police whine about it. The utopia that WAS sl is gone and not comeing back because of people like that..but will be interesting to watch how its gona die..dang good lesson in what happends when a free market is no longer free _____________________

I don't really think that they'd ban escorts. They may try to cut out some of the escort advertising, and things like that to make it a little less obvious that there is so much of it going on.

But do we really know the limits of the services? No we dont. For example, if in NYC why not give these people a try http://nycmodels10.com/home10.htm They advertise as escorts. _____________________

Escorting is a work around prostitution laws in most countries. Escorts don't officially sell sex, they sell time.

Ya really dont know prostiotion is against the law in the usa? lol No, actually Sindy is right. Yes, prostitution is not legal anywhere in the US except Nevada, but some cities do have loop holes in there laws that allow certain types of prostitution to still take place. That is providing the participants are careful. There are also som US cities that have loop holes in ordinances that allow live sex acts provided certain criteria are complied with. Not to mention those asian spas... That's why you can find certain things openly advertised on the internet and in local nightlife/entertainment papers. _____________________

prostitution: The act or practice of engaging in sex acts for hire.
Not simulated sex acts for hire |

Shooting someone as sport is also against the law. And it happens in SL
But it's not real shooting with real guns and real injuries here. Hello. The gambling ban is the result of a clarification of how legislation that makes internet gambling services illegal to be hosted on servers in the US specifically affected gambling in SL. It's applicable, as far as the law was interpreted and how the FBI saw it. End of story. Any controversy or conspiracy about it has no basis in fact. As for SL prostitution, there's a HUGE difference here between that and gambling. At best, SL prostitution is comparable to a phone sex service. Which, as far as I know, is not illegal in the US. On the other hand, a lot of people in the US seem to like to run around banning things that involve sex because sex seems to bother them. But not violence. Or lottery programs that prey on the poor. Or things like that. Because "sex=bad" and "violence=kewl" and "lottery=$$$". Lately, it feels like there are a lot of days that I'm embarrassed to be an American. |

Online gambling is not illegal in the US, facilitating it is, which is where LL may have a problem, I still think it's more to do with the gambling being unregulated than online. You could pick up L$ in SL and gamble with them without using a credit card so I think it's more unregulated gambling and money laundering that is the issue. Don't be emabarrassed about being an American, I got Levi's jeans there for seventeen quid, that's simply not happening in the UK. America rocks. The government might not but the people do. |

Servers hosting it in the US is illegal. SL hosted internet gambling facilities. That's what I said. Now, if LL moved those servers to a place where it wasn't illegal, it would be a different story. |

If LL still supplies the *client*, it seems they might still face some level of liability in the issue. The step toward open-sourcing the client would hint at mitigating that liability, since someone may access the illegal activity/material using a client obtained from someone else. |
