Another thing we could do is not feed the flamer. If a person has a nasty or rude post just ignore them and they will eventually get tired of not getting the attention they evidently love and go elsewhere.

They "get off" on knowing they are pissing off people and it is what every abuser thrives on the "power thing" others give them by enableing their abuse. It is hard when you are being ridiculed but just stop "biteing the bait" and getting caught up.

I know. People have two hands. They can probably make their own sandwiches (and manipulate their own keyboards). I chalk it up to lazyness.

Actually, condescending to people because you're too cool for school is LAZY.

This is resident answers. This is not The Elex Dusk Ego Therapy Forum.

P.S. Your analogy sucks, and the fact that you think it's "excellent" speaks volumes.

Here's a better one -

You're sitting in an info booth, and a man comes up to you and asks you where the bus stop is and you insult and ridicule him and then tell him to go contact the bus company, taking 5 times as long as it would have to just say "Two blocks west, and one block south".

But whatever it takes to make you feel superior, right?

P.P.S. Coddling and hugging are YOUR words, hyperbole much?

This analogy does not work for one simple reason: You are not walking down the street. You are sitting in an Information Booth. The man is approaching you looking for help since you are putting yourself out there as a helpful authority. If you cannot be that here, then I suggest you give up your seat to someone who will.

I was thinking of the wording for the idea you expressed here.

Wouldn't that be nice, and logical? So, I doubt it will ever happen.

I was thinking this over while making dinner and I realised that there is a huge irony here with respect to the meme that some here embrace, which conveys the idea that people just have too thin of skin when they are slammed by some smart aleck with a lack of other hobbies. The irony being that it is they themslves who apparently are so thin skinned that questions in a forum designed to answer questions get under their skin so much.

Looked in the mirror lately?
