While checking the available data, I came across a list of Lindens, and 'former' Lindens. Of the seventeen former Lindens, two were Magellan and Pony, six had resigned (mostly on amicable terms), one had retired, six others had no reason given, the last had changed his name (though no reason for the change given). I found this interesting, since in the 'current' Lindens list, there are five listed as having 'departed', yet they are not in the 'former' Linden list. There is also listed one Heretic Linden (by name) renamed to Iridium and now departed (one wonders why? Perhaps there's some brainwashing going on, and the victims change their names to show their support to the 'new order'? Why would one change their name BEFORE departing, if one is going into hiding?). Also in the 'current' list is Ventrella Linden, with the notation 'Fled from There.com'. No reason for why she (I presume) fled, nor who might be after her. That page is unofficial and out of date. J.J. Ventrella indeed came to SL from There, and was responsible for floopy prims as well as the as-yet unincorporated avatar puppeteering, but he left in late '07. Iridium works for MOU now. [Edit: Er - or anyway left SL to work for MOU.] _____________________

I did find that materials picked up at the meeting somehow went missing from my inventory. I _know_ that I grabbed a copy of the milk carton but it's nowhere to be found in my inventory now. How odd. I dropped another one on ya. Let's see if it shows up. ![]() _____________________

Could it be that a Linden goon monitored the meeting and had our resources silently 'dealt with'?? I still suspect Xenon Linden had something to do with the disappearance of Magellan and wonder if he had a spy at the meeting. There WERE some folks there that I had not met before. The av-scanner at the base usually does a good job of detecting Lindens and their GrIP addresses (in case they are in disguise). I wouldn't be surprised if the announcement I had handed out had found it's way into Linden hands. It may even be that the Grid routinely scans inventory items/transfers and flags any suspected items for hand monitoring. My gini didn't show anything out of the ordinary. In fact, Bodega's region borders held up really well with all the folks we packed into the second floor of the base. A few years ago, that many people would have probably caused them to destabilize or even shut down completely. |

We got Jack's place, Lexie & Mia's place, somebody next door to Lexie & Mia - Andrew maybe?, and one way north of Help Island Public - about 1 sim due north of Sidewinders's place. Maybe another one about a sim to the west of that last one, too. /me finds placards at Lan, Cogsworth, Lexie & Mia and Kelly Linden's land. Jacks land, not the estate stuff but his land in Linden village, actually encroaches a few meters onto public land - that area has autoreturn but his land doesn't. I'm betting Meade put the placard on the public land, though I'm sure she will blame Xenon Linden and Goon Linden. edit: and i've dropped a placard on Jack's land for Meade. ![]() |

I was just looking around at the Moth Temple in Iris. While it's certainly a beautiful and mysterious build, the only unusual thing I found was this... a small blue sphere submerged in the water directly underneath it.
The sphere is just titled 'hint,' and was created by Ben Linden on Friday, April 1st, 2005. When touched, it leads to Snapzilla, but not to any specific picture; there's no indication of what image it may have originally led to, or what the hint was about. It may not be related to the current mystery at all, but one never knows. ![]() _____________________

Yup - me and Meade flew over the village and dropped a few - but shhh, tis a secret! ![]() I happened to bee in the village at one point yesterday, an debated dropping a sign. 'Cept I ended up seein a sign already there in the spot I was gonna drop it. ![]() Ya know, I sorta wonder if some Lindens might be willing to put one up all on their own. If there's any we can trust, of course. Mari _____________________

I'm fairly sure Meade has decoded that green thing... if it wasn't that she showed me, she *has* decoded something! Nooo.. I translated the text on the Di-ingue Baught tribe map that Magellan discovered in early (very, very early) April, 2004. ![]() The translation was fairly disappointing, though. The only thing I got from it was that the tribe knew the names of a number of Lindens and, in particular, Xenon's name. The way they write his name is a little different than how they write other names. That and the name on the blueprints of Magellans ship, the ship without landing gear or 'breaks', the ship that crashed!, are what's led me to believe that Xenon is somehow involved with Magellan going missing... ![]() Also, the green image from Magallens chronicles was discovered, I think, _after_ he had left the stilt village. It was from a different temple, the temple of the land-dwelling moth worshipers, though I do not know where it's located.. edit: sorry for the huge image ![]() _____________________

The lack of landing gear to support the plane while the engines are off is disturbing. Even more disturbing is how far back on the vehicle the engines have been placed. To lift off the ground, they would normally have to be near the center of mass. There must be some strange forces at work here. This is beyond what our current understanding of physics can explain. Magellan... hmmm.... we've had a few messages in bottles wash up on the Avarian shores signed by a 'Magellan'.
Most of them were just asking for whoever found the bottle to please recycle it for them, though. _____________________

Team Magellan Members, preliminary information
04-09-2008 14:56
On request of Salazar Jack, I am attempting to unearth the full names of the members on the expedition.
In Magellan's journal, he references LIER, Ryan, and Randall. LIER is the Linden Inhabitable Environment Reconstructionists. A side reference turned out to be very useful, referencing JS Tomorrow, Involvium, Involvium Energy Ventures, and Phinneus Darcy. It turns out that Phinneus Darcy was a member of the expedition to Nova Albion, and also to Heterocera Atoll; both were expeditions with Magellan. JS Tomorrow had been hired as a journalist to the Heterocera Atoll. Her sketches of 'the crew' show five people besides herself. These five must be Magellan, Phinneus, Randall, Ryan, and Ethan (by her later listing). I've not yet uncovered the surnames on the last three. However, considering her sketch, and commentary, the expedition manager, either Randall or Ryan, is female. Of the travellers she mentions being 'drawn' to the area, only one, Paperback Voom, is listed by full name. I intend to check him (or her) out next; Search isn't showing me anything yet. I found it interesting that Miss Tomorrow did not mention any of the expedition by full name, save Phinneus, nor list all of them at any time. I also found it interesting that she mentions Involvium Energy Ventures as the ones leading the expedition. Attempts to contact Miss Tomorrow have not yet resulted in an answer; the last time she is reported being seen is March 5th of this year. She is a member of the Involvium group, which I joined in the hopes of learning more, and the only other member is a Hunter Calhoun, who was last seen March 24th. Though both people seem to have been around for a while, I find it a bit odd that they have so little information available on either of them. The only other two people she references are her sister, Trish, and her editor, Harry. I don't know if checking either out are worth the effort, though I won't know until I try. I thought of holding off reporting this until I had more (or better) information, then decided it might be a bad idea; what little I've gotten might be just what someone else needs to put the puzzle together. I'll keep looking. (edited to add links) http://www.involvium.com/iev/Our_History.html http://jstomorrow.blogspot.com/ Side note: the voice-over on the Involvium advertisement sounds, to me, very much like Torley Linden. |

Paperback Voom?
04-09-2008 15:10
Finally got Search to work. There is no one named Paperback Voom listed at all. There are some 20 with the first name of Paperback, or variant, and a number of Vooms, but no Paperback Voom.
Considering the effect of the Involvium crystal JS Tomorrow mentioned, perhaps the people there, as well as the landscaping, were 'appearing out of nowhere, from their imaginations'? That shouldn't have changed the actual expedition members, though. At least, not to start with. I'll keep trying. |

On request of Salazar Jack, I am attempting to unearth the full names of the members on the expedition. I happened to come across the names today, doing some heavy-duty searching! I dug dis up iusing the ol' WayBack Machine... The Magellan Linden Chronicles February 9 – April 1, 2005 Veteran explorer Magellan Linden and his mish-mash team of trusty explorers (Dr. Milo Gessner, Carla Jane Falcone, Dr. Randall Boas and Capt. Adrien deLane) revealed the new land mass of Atoll to the SL community. The mission was chronicled by Magellan Linden himself in his blog, which included updates, dispatches, photographs and sketches of the adventure. Magellan Linden’s previous explorations include last year’s investigation of the Mt G'al volcanic area, a thorough study of the fetid inner tunnels under Olde London and his celebrated scholarly examination of Second Life’s hidden trysting locations. Explore the new Atoll sims yourself here Hyles (36,34). Now I wonder who these other peoples is? Mari _____________________

Soft Linden

Jes a quickie: Soft Linden dropped me a note today, *requesting* a Magellan Milk Carton for their office. Looks like we might have someone on the inside! Yup, he dropped by my place after finding my blog and saw the carton I have out there - we may well have some inside help, people. I have told him to be careful though - one manhunt at a time is enough. _____________________
