heyas;

so i visited csi sim. i have fun there with my 'tiny posse.' we go and investigate murders as a group. i even went to the cbs web episodes and watched the csi sl episode.

as i recall... the hype and write up said the first csi sl episode would be a 'cliffhanger' -- well, unsolved, anyhow -- and that people could help solve it until part two (presumably the end?) would air in january.

so, its january.... has anybody heard about part two? is there some sort of tv writer strike preventing it from airing? (is zuicker on strike? is that why there haven't been any new 'murder by zuicker' puzzles? :X )

There was a writer's strike, it kind of messed up nearly every standard type show on Television this year.

Unless that episode has already been made, it's going to be a while, thanks to the strike.

It was a bit weird. IIRC there was the SL episode and then back to regular type eps with no reference to the SL ep. I would have thought that both SL episodes would have been written together, but then I dunno. Quite often shows are shown out of synch, it's a pain.

yeah, they did so well with that '333' thread running through... wow, a lot of episodes. til they wrapped it up in one. i liked that. but not even a 5 second note on the 'venus' case, anywhere. woulda been nice. even if one guy just says 'we have avatar agents working the case from the inside' or something. props to us.

the csi sims seem to me to be pretty successful. so hopefully they wont just can the part two ep.

i do hope venus kicks taylor's butt, though. just a little. i mean, come on, you see him and his condescending attitude towards people who like online virtual worlds? he deserves it :X

You know you are right - That 333 episode and episodes in a few other Series seemed rushed.

Almost like they hurried up to finish it before the strike stopped them.

The Heroes finale was the worst - it went from the normal glacial "heroes" Pace to like a news bites ending.

I do hope that part 2 is still in the works. That CSI episode was definitely the best thing that could have happened for my business. My 2 hotels nearly filled in the week following, and some of those residents are still with me.

I hope that LL realizes that there is a definite residual effect on the economy far beyond the effect of the Sims in question whenever they do a publicity stunt like that. Keep them coming, LL!

What I do remember reading about the CSI:SL bits. The second part is/was supposed to air in February.

The final gimmick of that episode is that it will end in a cliffhanger: it will not be resolved until an episode in February.

I remember it being in February not Januar as well. Either way the writers strike has led most networks to end this season for all shows and plan to start either in the summer or in the fall. It's hard to determine when or if we'll ever see part II.

I solved all the cases there and only then realized that Second Life was not, in fact, "CSI:NY Online". I finally fled to the rest of Second Life yesterday (the forum hangout is fun).

Were people using voice there? Is that why no one talked in the club? Why only the greeters ever seemed to talk? Oh, I now recall one other visitor, non-greeter, who talked. Kept going on and on about filling out surveys for cash.

Sorry, finally saw a thread about the CSI: NY islands and had to say something. I know nothing about "television."

oh, okay, february. can i expect another upwell of tv promotion on the sl site/forums about when its gonna be out?

davidray: really, i just suspect those people were tv couch potatoes who didnt realize that sl was an interactive chat medium, and just went there to play games, only talking to themselves in their own minds....

avion: what hotels do you have? just wondering how the csi newbies found ya. are you in a new york sim?

Bloodsong,

I believe they all just found my hotels through the classifieds searching "apartment." Mine are called "Devolin Paradise," "Masocado," and "Patria." Actually I'm not done with Patria so I haven't advertised it yet.

I don't have any offiliation or exposure in the CSI areas, and haven't even been there yet myself. (Is that what the New York sims are?). One of my new tenants dropped in wearing a CSI investigation badge. He didn't even know how to place furniture that day, but he wanted a place to live. He is now hugely into SL and still lives on one of my properties, and is one of my best SL friends.

I think there was just a lot of new traffic because of all the publicity; and perhaps a lot of them didn't necessarily go in through the CSI route. All I know is that the traffic was just huge those weeks, and I don't think it was a coincidence.

Aloha,

I'm offering my services as a scab writer, I can have the new cliffhanger written in less than a week, and it will be a blockbuster! (Now to try penetrating those nasty picket lines)

I spoke to a liason at Electric Sheep a few weeks ago who confirmed that the writers' strike caused a delay. Now that the strike is over, they're hoping the episode will be in production soon.

Same findings here - has this issue been raised in jira? It should be a bug until we here something definite from LL.

/me offers herself as a murder victim.

That would just tickle my RL husband to death to see my avi croaked on national tv. He hates my SL.

Since February was a sweeps month I assume it will probably be rescheduled in May.

From: wikipedia.org

The term "sweeps"... refers to television programming during the months of November, February, May and (of lesser importance) July, in which eagerly anticipated programs are deliberately scheduled in order to boost television ratings.

Television networks and other programmers make unusual efforts to attract additional viewers during these periods, including broadcasting mostly original programming as opposed to repeats, showing more special broadcasts, and including special content in programming such as guest stars, controversial and unexpected plots or topics, extended episodes, finales, and increased competition in advertising.

Nielsen 2008 Sweeps Dates:

February 2008 31 January - 27 February, 2008
May 2008 24 April - 21 May, 2008
July 2008 3 July - 30 July, 2008
November 2008 30 October - 26 November, 2008
