Uhm... exactly which type of people did you think you would attract with camping chairs?

Not quite, there's more to camping than traffic, it's an advertising ploy, it's a tool to draw people in and some of those going with the intention of camping may well shop there. Good one ![]() _____________________

i clearly don't understand how this works. i have spent HOURS and HOURS on my land for the past few days, and the traffic has barely gone up, which is why i haven't tied up my puter trying to generate higher traffic numbers. i'd rather pay to play. From my tests, and this is close, but not perfect, you can count on 1 traffic point per minute spent there by each avatar. If you spend 2 hours on your property you wil get somewhere around 120 traffic from that. A single avatar can generate about 1440 traffic in a 24 hour period. Mainland sims can never compete with islands due to this, as far as traffic is concerned. Since a mainland sim is limited to 40 avatars total the maximum traffic you can ever reach is about 57,600. (and to do this you would have to block out the entire rest of the sim from their properties). An island that has their limit set to 100 avatars could have much higher traffic and still have more shoppers than a mainland sim. Take a look at the figures under poplular places and you will see some of them have traffic that requires 80 to 90 avatars (the top one as I write this is calulating out to be 87+) to be present on the sim for 24 hours a day. Heh.. just noticed the top popular place is a casino. |

Actually Fiona, she said in her original post... The fact that I had confused two different posters was already pointed out to me immediately after my initial response. I apologized at the time for the confusion. It should still be there to read. Moving on. _____________________

I wonder if an annoyed landowner could FREEZE the bot, set the camp spot at L$0.01/hour or something, and let the damn thing rot there until its owner comes back to his computer. Stil get the traffic numbers from it, FWIW. if you freeze someone do they still generate traffic? this would be a very effective way to get peopel to camp w/o paying them = simply use a camping chair you can turn off. soon as its obvious the camper is afk, just freeze them and turn off the chair - you are set until they check in on their av. |

Soooo.. you are using camping to exploit the traffic figures.. but you have issues that someone is 'using' your exploit for their own gains... hmmm... What was the valid part of your question for SL business's... keep away from your place as its based on false traffic reports??

if this is true, why did mine not go up at all? i mean, i was literally on the land for hours and hours setting up a building. It will affect your traffic during the next 24 hour cycle. I work over my shop and if I work for several hours one day the next I see a big bump in my traffic. (Speaking of which, I hope people don't think this is cheating?) _____________________
