I am having trouble with seeing animations. I went out looking for couples danceballs last night and the dance looked ok to me but my partner could not see that I was moving. When we tried again. This time he could see me move, but to me he was frozen in place. Later we attemted a good night hug and kiss and the same thing happened. I found the issue posted on the new version forum and the bug is posted on the Jira, but it hasn't gotten many votes. Are others not having this trouble? Do I just have a setting wrong? Thanks. Here is the link to the JIRA : https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/VWR-1407

I'm also seeing this issue: I don't think it's just a bogus setting, Nimue -- voted for it in the Jira but you're right, it's not getting a lot of votes. I'd think something that borks couples animations would have a few people upset... Anyone else having this issue, go vote on the Jira -- I'd like to see it elevated to the point it gets assigned to a Linden to be tracked down.
Speaking of the Jira -- LL can't fix things if we don't let them know what we're seeing and what we want fixed. If you look at the number of votes on the TOP issues in the Jira and compare it to the number of people in world, it's pretty sad -- the highest vote tally I'm seeing on an open/unresolved issue is 174. Of course, there's always the distinct possibility I just don't know what I'm doing when I look at the Jira...
By all means make your voice heard in the forums -- that's exactly what they're here for -- but if you're going to take the time to bitterly complain over here (as is absolutely your right) at least take the time to go see if your issue is in the Jira and vote for it (or put it in, if not).
Anyway, sorry for that little side rant. Thanks for the Jira link, Nimue, and here's to hoping it gets figured out before too long!

This seems to a generic problem, Animations, particle emitters, prims that suddenly go uneditable...
There is some kind of major increase of ilke internal server packet loss (something that does NOT show up int he clients packet loss count). Dance balls are REALLY bad for this sometimes, everyone sees one or more prople NOT dancing at all times, persons(s) not dancing changes with every dance. Ruthings seem to have gotten far worse (like 3x as bad) as well, starting the very hour they finished the rolling update.
It acts like typical server/client packet loss but is compeltely uncounted on the client (ONE packet lost but 6 packet loss like anomalies?!?)
This all started with last thursdays server update and rolling restart. The effects seem to be just subtle enough that most people don't see them or chaulk it up to the typical packet loss they are used to, but in fact the beavior IS different than normal and quite repeatable.

Sounds like a variant of a rather old bug . I'm sticking with 1.17.0 so I can't try my old repro, but if someone wants to bother (you need an alt and two puters for it): /327/78/152195/1.html* Tp your alt to you (make sure it's somewhere you have two different sets of poseballs) * Clear cache on both and log off * Log both back on * Alt jumps on pose ball set 1, you see the pose/animation on both viewers * Log alt off * Log alt back on * Alt jumps on pose ball set 2, on your alt's screen it'll play the pose, on your screen it'll just sit there in the default sitting pose

*shakes her head*
Exact same bug as 7 months ago. Reproduces in 1.17.2, doesn't reproduce in 1.17.0.
If you can get Torley's attention, I had an email conversation with her back then and submitted a solid repro that worked for the testers as well, so there has to be an internal issue on it already, along with a fix.

Yes same bug - please vote! This is a big one - even joint dance balls don't always show both avatars as animated :/ I am spending less and less time in world as a result of this one. I simple can't be arsed to relog every time it happens.

Thanks for the the suggestion to roll back to the previos version. Duh me. That at least has me dancing and hugging again. I voted for sure and agree this is a big and annoying problem. Many activities *blush* require those synched up poseballs and I am afraid that if they are misfiring all over the grid there are going to be alot of grumpy people around.

I would be glad to vote on other bugs that bug me but I could not figure out how to find items to vote on. The instructions say click on "Find Issues" link at top of page. I don't have that link anywhere on the page, and yes I am logged in.

This "Voting" for regressed bugs really... bugs me.
If a bug regresses it should be put back at the top of the list IMMEDIATELY. No voting!
Regressed bugs are easiest to fix and should be fixed immediately (Aother regression, the IM window forgetting it's size). Tthe entire bug triage process has ALREADY been done, there is no need to repeat it.
Regressed bugs == immediate fix.
Thank you for listening LL.

It's really annoying that these bugs go back in and it really shouldn't happen. I found btw a similiar bug, that shows up from time to time - depending on the sim-, but not often. It's an apperance problem, both people don't see the same attachments, completely similar to the anim problem. Since it looks like that jira has now internal server errors too (i wouldn't expect anything else) - I'll post the number here later. And to the voting: I guess some people just don't care about the bugs or don't know that you can vote for bugs. I also never understood that you can vote for them. A bug is a bug and has to be fixed, that's the point, it already has a indication level of severity, so why vote??? I already put this bug in the forum here under feedback to the current version and asked if anybody can reproduce it, but only one single person responded to it. And it's a nice way to get LL's attention if we talk here in the wrong forum And yes, the version 1.17.1 and 1.17.2 fucked really more things up. Now the attachments are going between my legs just by reattaching them, no tp needed like in that known bug. The reposting from a collar after relog is not working any longer and and and ... I guess if Jira works again, I have to put some more there. PS: To reproduce the anim bug, just have two people wear an amethyst collar ( - lol -) and let one after the other give the command .kneel (and of course .release afterwards). Both should kneel, but not both will see the other kneel. If it doesn't work for you, go to another sim and try it there.

How do you know this? Is there a way to measure server performance?

A bug is a bug and has to be fixed, that's the point, it already has a indication level of severity, so why vote??? To help determine how many people the bug affects. If a blocker only affects 1 person, it's not going to get fixed as fast as a major issue that affects 40 people.

Once logged into the Jira, you should see a list of 4 main issue categories (on the left side of the page: Misc, Service, Viewer, and Website) -- if not, click "Home" to the left of the "Find Issues" link. In each category are several choices for "Reports" you can generate -- these are listings of the bugs/issues being tracked in each category. For example, you can click the "Popular Issues" link under the "Viewer" category to get a listing of the most-voted-for reported issues (in vote order) for the viewer. Scroll through the issues list, click on issues to read more detailed info about ones that look interesting, and cast your votes for issues you would most like to see fixed, and viola, you're helping LL prioritize what they should have their (finite) development resources focused on, according to the wishes of the user base. I have been having the same problem since I downloaded the latest viewers. I am as I type I am reverting to 1.17.0. I hope this fixes it as it has been extremely disruptive. I have been searching the various rescources on the SL website, but finding the right search string has been difficult... ('pose balls not working') it has taken me three days to find this thread! I have also voted on the jira, but I suspect many non-technically-minded others will not have the patience to track down this page and the jira page which would explain the lack of numbers on voting on this very visible and disruptive bug. Even the name of this thread is rather vague... luckily for me I checked it out.
