In response to this thread: ( /327/fa/192534/1.html) I came up with this idea.... One of the non-land-owning Avatars is wondering where she can change clothes and still maintain a sense of modesty. I've often wondered what to do with the ground level of the parcel I own. Right now I have a small "Buddhist" shrine with a very nature-loving theme on the ground and my skybox above, but I know nothing about real Buddhism so I've thought about changing the ground level so as not to offend true followers of that faith. If I open a "homeless shelter" with changing rooms for non-property owners, a few learning resources for new players, a place to rez items temporarily, and a landmark-giver, would any of you be interested in it? I'm afraid I don't have the resources to put camping chairs or other money-making devices, but I can at least offer a nice place to change and play around. However there are many great suggestions already in this thread, and I don't want to make something would go unused.

hehe these exist ingame already The shelter NCI are the ones off the top of my head I can think of other places offer or did offer changing rooms that were commercial in aspect but you could set home to the place and change in private. They do exist and another one would not hurt

The Shelter and NCI are heavily staffed. It would require a lot of volunteers I think. Thank you, Eban, for this generous idea. Looks like people are not voting for it much. --KC

Again there is no option for me. I think it's a great idea, very generous. But I haven't the need for it so I'll abstain.

In SL?

From: Brenda Connolly I thought I saw something small out there....very small. Doubt that. For some reason, some things in SL tend to be ludicrously HUGE!

Though I own land so would not use it, I think it's a wonderful idea if you have the land/prims and wish to help in such a mannor.
As for the staffing: You really don't need that. Simply provide a LM giver TO the NCI and to The Shelter, YadNi's Junkyard and all the other philanthrip (sp?) places that help people in SL.
I personally have a notecard giver for newbies on my land. It lists through a lot of things I wish I had known when I was just starting. If you'd like a copy of my notecard to hand out to newbies, IM me in-world and I'll send you one. That goes for anyone else as well (if you don't get a copy within a day, it means my IM's were capped. Just ask again ^.^)

I don't get why people have a problem changing clothing in Second Life >.> You don't actually have to get naked to put on a new outfit. Pointless, however. Being ever the pessimist when it comes to Second Life I know this is what'll happen; Like a Welcome Area, if it caught on it'd turn into nothing more than a large place where griefers and newbs run around. Changing rooms wont help as there's no one anyone can go to be private, truly, and people can still cam into the room. All you'll end up with is a huge headache. Or no one will use it, and it'll just be a big waste of land. It's a novel idea, truly, and I love it when people want to help each other out, but it's far simpler to tell everyone to take the time to copy their skin and hair and place those in the same folder as the clothing, and then drag and drop. Either that, or go into the clothing folder and double-click the new outfit. Edit; You need a plain "no" option in the poll

You probably wont find many here needing the facilities, you can't access the forums until you have payment used on file which does cut out a high percentage of newbies. It's a nice idea though

It's pretty easy to make a little private place wherever you are (as long you can rez):
1. Rez a simple cube
2. Sit on it
3. Edit it to an altitude of 600m, size 10m x 10m
Viola - your very own sky platform. Even though it has no walls, it's practically private.
