If you buy an annual membership, Premium is $6/month, $4-5 of which you get back via stipend. Done that way, you pay $1-2 per month for your 512m, or $6-7 for 1024m.

true, but who in their right mind pays per year in advance? let alone when just starting to play ;)

You save money by paying a year in advance. And I paid for a year after my first week in SL.

I am bumping you to an 8.5 on the Official Trout Measuring Instrument of Sluttiness. You are an enigma - on the one hand a sweet, gentle, intelligent woman who we would like to wrap up in our arms and protect, and on the other, a temptress to whom we would like to do all sorts of unmentionable things.

Congratulations and shame on you! You are a bit of a slut.

/me raises her hand. And two more times for her alts. :D

The real question is why you would pay $10 a month when you can get the exact same thing for $6?

But then I knew within minutes that I was in SL for the long haul. :)

Plus, you own your land and no one can kick you off except LL...which probably won't happen unless you've been very naughty and you're being ejected from the game. Premiums also get (theoretically) better support. It was worth it to me (and one of my alts). *shrug*

:) Agreed! I only wish I had found the Forums a LONG time ago, when I really WAS a newbie. Instead I just harrassed my friends. I remember the whole "I have a box on my head, how do I open it?" conundrum. Thank God my friends were patient!

From my first day on I have met very helpful people on SL. Users are usually friendly and patient to new residents. I even got a furry avatar as a GIFT, just because I helped someone with a problem! When I see a newbie now with a box on their head I try to give some of the kindness back and help them. It's so much fun to take a bunch of noobies around, show them the freebe spots, give them some money and so on. :) The best moment that ever happened was a newbie couple just saying goodbye when I walked by, and I could hear her say "I wish I could hug you know, but I can't". I turned around and gave her the multitool and said "now you can". They were SO happy :)) So be nice to newborns. You will get it back a hundred times.

I pefer a month to month plan. I lose interest or SL goes teats up, It's easier to walk away. I guess I'm pragmatic about it.

Find your 512, go to Loniki Loudon for a single skybox (or make one if you can), there's a ton of low prim furniture out there - upload your own textures and leave a prim spare for a security orb.

(This being said I just bought 12288 on private to add to my venue area ... eeek!)

I strongly suggest you find a free home join NCI or group for new members that owns land and set your home there that doesn't charge you

Are you saying that NCI and groups offer free homes?

From: Nina Stepford
nci is a great place for nearly everything! tutorials, freebies, etc its well worth your time to check it out.

What is NCI?

From: Arua Rotaru
here are a bunch of great sites to visit

Thanks so much!

even owning an 512sqm plot u have to pay $10 a month for premium account

As I said, I'm willing to pay for a premium account. I don't mind paying Linden Labs for membership. But I don't want to pay third parties, and I don't want the pressure of having to come up with enough L$ every week to pay rent or tier.

Thanks, Arua! There are some nice units there. I can't see any internal views, though.

If the group you join has land they often let you set that as home location.
Sorry if that wasn't clear.
NCI does allow you to build though but No you can't have permant home there.
Though when I was new my friend rezzed a house for tea party, though they didn't quite like that LOL
