Hi..

I run a few mainland rentals. I just got an IM from one of my tenants that my rentals in Pryeri seem to have disappeared. The person said that everything from the property is simply gone.

I cannot login now from where I am. Can someone please go to Pryeri (32,64) and take a look around?

There should be a rental office surrounded by prim water on the ground in the middle of the property. There are 30 condos in the sky. The rental office has (had?) teleporters in it that take you to the individual condos.

I need conformation that the stuff is there or not so I can contact support and start waiting for a reply.

Thanks -2fast

Thanks Atashi.

This looks really bad....what is amazing is that some of the terraforming is still there. At least something was saved :(

I hope this is just some wierd problem that is easy to fix.

Update
04-10-2007 19:39
I have an update from LL...the news is not good....

1. More than 7,000 prims were returned or lost at about 7:20 am on April 10
2. They have no intention on doing a rollback
3. Missing things are not in anyone's lost and found folders

I have had enough....the land is for sale.

Not out of SL just yet...just out of that sim.

If search gets wowrking again, you might just be able to buy some newly cleared land :)

Looks like Hantu was also wiped clean (Linden roads...everything is gone). I tried to see what was wrong with Samia...but it was down.

Live help is not answering...probably busy with people missing stuff :)

omg... you need to try another Linden. That's sick.

Try this... go to 0,0,0 in the sim and touch all the items there, if any. That might get the items back.

Everything is gone...I spoke with some of my tenants and they are all missing everything.

Looks like everything is just gone...and no way to recover it.

Indeed. Worth trying another Linden to see if I can get anywhere. I looked around...even the Linden roads are missing.

There is nothing at 0,0...but would be nice if it was that simple :)

Did you disable camera constraints and look under ground? Just making sure. One of my tenants had this problem, and I found her items there. But then, this was on private islands...

I just noticed yesterday that you can request a rollback in your account. Can you try this?

@ Cristalle...

Out of about 1,200 objects, only 33 were left so there isn't much point in looking around - that was according to the About Land tool. I looked around...everything was gone.

I have the land for sale now . . . all I can say is that I am very disappointed. Life carries on though.

@Kira...

LL has no intention of doing anything. Here's a quote from the email I got after speaking with them:

"....not possible under any circumstances to rollback a mainland region"

The note goes on to say....

"There isn't really anything to do at this point but have your renters locate the objects
in their lost & found folder and rez them again."

Of course, there is no mention of the fact that nothing was returned to anyone's Lost and Found folder.

Such is SL :)

That's bullsh*t. Just within the last week or two, on this forum, a resident reported getting a rollback for a nuked sim. All their items were restored.

You just need to be persistent, because that person was also told there was no rollback for mainland sim. But eventually they got hold of a Linden who fixed the problem.

I'm going to call LL again today and escalate this. I went back there is morning and now all of the prims in the whole region are gone...all properties -- there were a few houses and trees yesterday but everything is gone now.

Myabe they converted the region to a sandbox that deletes everything once each day :D

(gotta keep a sense of humor about this)

Rollbacks on Mainland
04-11-2007 06:12
Last week after the maintenance work (Wednesday) I couldn't get into my home sim (Achado) and asked for help (posted here). Eventually, with some help from Sindy Tsure and Lindens, we worked out that the sim was stuck in a reset loop, and it got fixed.

I got into the sim and did some work - moving stuff around, rezzing objects etc, then logged out. Later that day I logged in again, and the work I'd done earlier was undone... so I presumed the sim had been rolled back...

Which implies to me that it is indeed possible to rollback ML. However since the server was obviously having problems, I guess the circumstances were rather exceptional?

Dunno if this helps... :-/

2fast, my heart goes out to you, this must as traumatic as hell, and for your tenants too. That LL do not respond satisfactorily to something as severe as an entire sim getting wiped out just really confirms what a lot of people have been grumbling about on these forums.

However, if you need help I can be there. I have houses I can rezz for your tenants if you wish, until you get things sorted, and a lot of nice furniture, carpets, paintings, etc. I can your new houses up, and partly furnished, in a couple of hours.

But, I think we also need to think seriously about how all this came about, so, a few questions:

1. I see that the owner of the land is a group. Have you checked the current membership, the roles they have and the role permissions? This would be my first port of call, and be thorough.

2. Terraforming can do the damage you describe. I accidently loaded a new terrain file (but this can also be done by manual terraforming, or by scripting) that was simply flat, but 700m high, instead of the 1m high file I intended loading. That put all prims underground. When I realised my mistake and loaded the correct terrain file I found that all prims had been wiped away. Depending on permissions, some prims were returned to the Lost and Found folder, while others vanish with no trace, or lost as LL reported. BTW, was it a Linden who told you that 7000 prims were returned or lost? If it was, can you contact that Linden again to get a more detailed breakdown, ie what was returned, what was lost, and the reason for the return/loss? Was the time of 7:20am PST time? You might also like to check your account history at the time of the disaster to see what inventory transactions took place at that time.

3. Were there any witnesses to the disaster? Send out a group message and ask all your tenants to share whatever information they have with you.

4. Remember that mass returns of objects results in coalescing, so do advise all your tenants, and yourself, to rezz EVERYTHING in your Lost and Found folder, as everything might be under the innocuous name of, say, Cup. You can also cut down on the amount of work involved, by using the Filter on the Recent Items tab in your inventory. Deselect everything, then just click on Objects, then set the time to the number of days ago that this tragedy occurred. Only objects returned to lost and found since that date will then show. Whatever there is, rezz it, and choose a wide-open place to do it, or better still, a skyplatform at 500m, as the coalesced objects will suddenly all appear, and all in their respective positions to the last object that was coalesced, and under whose name the collection now resides in, so if the last item was a skybox at 700m then everything could appear, but now up to -500m underground! So get up high to do this!

5. Get rid of the water, alpha, and surface patch, and do a parcel by parcel search for any objects at all. Small things could give clues.

6. Have you given anyone Modify my Objects permission?

7. Check your Account History for any strange transactions at all, from a week before the tragedy to the present. It is possible that your account/password has been compromised, so clues should be sought there.

8. Do you own the entire sim? Have you sold any plots on the sim? Has the tragedy befel only you and your holdings, or the holdings of every owner of land in the sim?

9. Any probs at all on the neighbouring sims?

10. Get over to the Reuters office and tell them everything that has occurred.

Hope these ideas help, and again, if you need assistance just give me an IM, and I'm sure there are plenty more folk out there who could give some of their time to help you get back up and running again.

This all stinks!

Rock.

What you should do is get EVERYONE who lost something to write LL. That's a lot of objects, and stuff belonging to a lot of people. That might get their attention.

Mainland sims can be rolled back, I've lost a number of no-copy items due to un-announced sudden rollbacks on mainland sims. If they can roll-back automatically like they did to me (6 times in 2.5 hours!) I'm sure someone can start a manual roll-back.
