I am curious about the older businesses of sl, if any of you guys read the forums. Even prior to the problems these last couple days, it seems sells (weekends included) have went down.
Curious about the last 2 weeks. I noticed record breaking numbers online, but sells slow.
Is this a gridwide thing or just me.
Thanks!

Mine isn't a very old business, but sales have dropped a great deal over the past few months. I expected a summer slump, but I also put some blame on the problems.

Down by about $40 USD/day at worst. But it varies from day to day, of course. Id probably say I`m averaging a loss of $20 USD a day, not too bad but definitely a decrease.

Way slow for me too the past couple of weeks. It declined significantly for me immediately after the update before last.
But, I'm leaving SL anyway. Real life circumstances make it the practical thing to do at this point. At least I'll be closing the business while I'm still ahead. I changed my classified and I was trying to do event announcements, but no one can search them anyway right now.
I wish the rest of you much luck being tossed around by the Linden winds of change, who knows where they will blow next.

Thanks for input everyone. I asked for "older" businesses because a lot of newer businesses probably will continue to do better until they peak (imo). Older businesses have peaked and can tell good vs bad weeks/months.
Hopefully no new business owners were offended.

Old enough to notice such trends. In my ladies fashion stores sales are practically non-existent now, though part (but not all) of that may be my lack of time and the resulting lack of new merchandise. My newer crossdressers fashion store hasn't peaked yet, and is actually going quite strong, especially considering the small size of this niche market. I'm beginning to suspect that with the latest development, people are more likely to spend money on something unique to enhance their SL experience than on the gazillionth mini skirt they can get a clone of on every sim corner. And it makes sense: why put money in a game you're not sure will be there for much longer (in its current form) to buy something you already have? While buying something unique may actually make the time you have left that much more fun?

Sales have still increased month on month for the last 2 years. Been hit hard by the problems with the search facility over the past few days but i am confident my bottom line will not be affected come the end of the month and that my business will continue to show growth.

Actually last Sunday was my best sales day ever by a lot; I'm still trying to figure out why the unexpected jump. Everything else has been average, except of course for yesterday because of the search problems.

Thanks! Hi Pia, It may also be part and parcel of the No Transfer element causing "personal use only" textures not to load/be useable. I've bug reported it (as you suggested). Thought I'd toss that out there as a possible reason for your specific sales.

5 of my classified ad's renewed today as well as 'parcel search' fee's and sales are WAY WAY WAY up
so i guess when search is broken and ad's are not listing in system correctly sales go down but when they 'fix' things sales go back to normal
wierd

One problem I've found is that a lot of people rely on search to go to places they frequent because it's a lot easier than searching for a landmark or remembering the name of the sim.
The latest issues kind of prove to me that we should have some sort of "favorites list" that looks similar to "Picks" in our profiles so you can actually see the description and picture for the area in question. This would help businesses a lot because there are plenty of repeat customers that would help a business keep afloat during one of our ever-more frequent "Search droughts".
I smell a JIRA!!

Old business here, two years.
Spring? Sales down. Summer? Sales average. Fall/Winter? Sales up. Holidays? Sales WAY up, despite doing no holiday specials or sales.
Past two days sales were at a fraction of normal, but were still occuring. Woke up today to find sales consistant as they ever have been. The search function is like a faucet, although a leaky one in our case.

Old Business

Another Old Business here, over 2 years. The month of May sales had slipped some but its around that time of year it slows for a month or two. Sales usually go back up in July and August then September will usually go down again. But on 6/6 sales were real bad in fact the worst day I have seen in over a year. Yesterday and today its a little better. But if I didnt know better I would have thought we were in 06 (6/6/06) instead of 07 . RL wasn't a good day either:/ With Search being down, Classifieds and tping borked it all adds up to slow/no sales. And from what I'm hearing you might want to check your vendors to make sure the buy feature is still valid. Seems that some have changed and customers can't buy.

Sales been down at rock bottom for two days..Today, up and I sense the average will be higher this month. I find it's often Feast or famine and averages out over the month. Funny though, I have diversity and when Mall is down land sales and rentals are up...Not disimilar to RL.

From: Argos Hawks How is that any different from Picks? It would be something that not everyone could see and could hold a lot more entries...maybe even be sortable.

We need to make up some in-game holidays for every month. Give people a need to buy gifts. I read that Korea has special couple holidays every month!

From: Bree Giffen We need to make up some in-game holidays for every month. Give people a need to buy gifts. I read that Korea has special couple holidays every month! Pushing the already-entrenched holidays for every major capitalist country would probably be the best bet. Not only putting up Christmas decorations but also gearing ads towards buying presents in that season. On second thought, I generally go into SL to GET AWAY from that junk! Holiday shopping is enough needless stress for RL...I don't want that to bleed over to SL!
