Bad roommate...Need a second opinion

I won't disclose names or locations, even though I would very much like to.

I was looking for an apartment and was approached by a woman asking me if I'd like to room with her.

To make the story short, I moved in yesterday and payed today for this coming week.

Everything seemed fine and cozy, until a few hours later: My roommate told me she was lonely and asked where I was, adding that as my landlady she had a right to kick me out if I didn't tell her. I told her the truth: I was at one of those public sex places. I didn't feel obliged to explain to her that I have never before explored that side of SL and was simply curious. She tells me that she doesn't room with whores, and tells me to get my "shit" and leave immediately. I get a bit upset and tell her I don't need to room with judgemental people anyway. She says that I'm still a whore, that she has muted me, and will keep my money (close to $200L).

I'm bewildered and think this was all unfair. I keep asking her to give me back the lindens but she says I'm harrassing her and will report me.

Am I losing my mind or she's one horrible b***h???

$200L is a whole $1.06 U.S. Move on and this time rent a place on your own. There are far more open minded people in SL to hang out with.

Sounds to me she's a control flake...lots of them around SL though. So, before you decide to room in with someone; be sure of thier character. Also, it could have been a ruse just to get the weeks rent for free. :/

Yikes. You're right, she's pretty horrible! She most definitely does *not* have a right to 'kick you out' if she doesn't know where you are-- it's none of her business. I kinda doubt she's going to give you the money back, but if she's such a narrow-minded pig, it's a small price to pay to learn the truth. Find a place on your own, and good riddance to her.

Sounds like she was trying to scam you.

kill my landlord, kill my landlord

So you paid somebody a dollar to call you a 'whore', theres people out there who would pay more to be called worse. You can find these types at the public sex shoppes your talking about. Sounds like your not an 'abuse ethusiast' however. In your case, maybe your just lucky it only cost you L$200. What if you paid up front for a month? Last thing I want is some landlord mapping me to see where I hang out. Your moral values didnt pass her stringent criteria of whom she would rent to? SCREW HER, SHES A SNOT! And she didnt refund your unused rent? A RIP OFF SNOT! Move on kiddo, just another wipe out on the SL learning curve.

Sounds to me like maybe she figured that you were going to be hers while you stayed there. Next time either rent with a guy or get your own place. There are many other places to rent from that are far more reasonably priced than that and places where you don't have be to 12 years old and answer to mommy anymore.

Just take it as a lesson learned and move on....:)

/agrees with Khilah.

She says she's lonely, then flips out because you're possibly spending time with someone else... sounds like one horrible jealous b***h, considering she was only a roomate, not a partner.

...she sounds like a lunatic. I don't know why you even told her where you were when she asked, it's none of her business. She probably won't give you your money back, but you are *very* lucky that all it cost you is 200 L. And FYI, you can find find your own place to rent for 200 L. So just count yourself lucky that you didn't get more involved with this obvious psycho.

RL roommates were hell enough, no way would I have a virtual one, LOL.

If I ever have to get a roommate again RL, I am going to be more careful, fussy and picky than if I was planning to get married. Really!

My roommate told me she was lonely and asked where I was, adding that as my landlady she had a right to kick me out if I didn't tell her.

In other words: weirdness ensued *before* she had any reason to disrespect you (not that being at a 'sex place' warrants disrespect). This sounds like a set-up to me.

Of course your whereabouts were none of her business. I just think she asked you that question with the express purpose of having an excuse to kick you out. You would have gotten kicked out no matter what you answered. If you'd said "none of your business" she would have kicked you out. If you'd said "playing slingo" she would have kicked you out for being a gambler. If you'd said "dancing at a club" she would have accused you of being a professional dancer and escort and kicked you out. If you'd said "shopping" she would have been appalled by 'living' with a 'consumer' instead of a 'creator' and kicked you out. You get the gist.

You paid a dollar to learn a lesson. Seems pretty cheap to me, the same lesson could have come at a much higher cost. Chalk it up to experience and move on. She is pathetic to scam someone to get a dollar, don't be as pathetic as she is by wasting your energy getting that dollar back. It's not worth it.

Did you read the Terms and Conditions of the rent? Maybe they are twisted enough to state that it was their right to question you and remark in such a way?

Reality check......

Being in SL doesnt 'protect' us from RL, because RL is what's here, you can't say you haven't crossed the road when confronted with the possibility of having to walk past someone of a dubious nature. In SL, crossing the road isn't an option, but we do have an even better solution.. the MUTE button.... I vote for one of those in RL...

Porky nailed it - "Bunny Boiler".. if you've read Misery by Stephen King you'll know this kind, and endeavor to stay far away. Think of the bunnies.

I agree with all the others on this.

Be happy to have only lost 200L and not more. The woman is a complete and total nutjob, psycho, controlling, luny b***h. She should get a life (maybe in both RL and SL)!

Just say good riddens and live on your own for a while. I do and I haven't had any problems yet (crosses fingers).

And if you do want to rent a place with someone, do it with a gay guy. They are always honest, can help you with clothing problems and never b***h about the fact that you're curious of the 'mature' things in SL.

Good luck!

Greetz,

Camden

Point of clarification here - as a gay guy, I can tell you that not ALL of us have the "fashion" gene.

On topic though, like the others already said...Be glad you got rid of her for only 200L. Could be much worse...
