Is someone taking my money?

I bought some currency today. When it showed my balance, I thought it should be more, becuase I also bought a little when I joined yesterday. So I looked at my "Transaction History", and shortly after my first purchase, it showed a transaction with a member name that said "Take Inventory" and my balance was zero.

It then showed that 3 minutes after I bought my currency tonight, another member did a "Take Inventory" transaction, and my account went back to -0- again.

Is it possible for someone to take my money like that?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

sounds like you have an object out there with Debit permissions taking your Lindens.

I just logged back in and looked in my Objects inventory. There was one called "b.places..something" that I didn't make. It must be related to a pop-up I got on Help Island saying someone had sent me something, and I kept it, thinking it was some kind of help.

They took about US $50, can I get it back?

Detach every thing you have on. It looks like someone gave you an item that is taking your money. File an AR on the person in your transaction log. Never take items from people you don't know.

Did anyone give you an object that asked if it could take money out of your account? This object might look like one of those 'pyramid scheme' pyramids with a dollar on it, or something else like that. Usually if someone gives you something that has the ability to take money or add money to your account, you have to rez it in world (it won't take money just sitting in inventory.) If you rez it, you'll get a big orange screen asking if you want to allow it to take money from you. If you click ok, then you've given the object access to your account. Do you remember anything like this in the recent past?

[Edit: You beat me to it! That really sucks, I'm sorry!]

Did you rez that object and leave it somewhere?

Ouc h *winces*

Unfortunately, no. You can try filing a Support Ticket but LL will probably tell you that there's nothing they can do as you authorised the transfers when you clicked on that dropdonw menu upon wearing that HUD.

It's sad because that's not the first time I've heard of that HUD scamming new Residents :(

ts past time there was some sort of scam protection set up for debit permissions.

Why the heck can you not pull up a Menu of all the objects you own that you have granted debit permissions to and recind those permissions?

Jesus. They're scamming before they even get off the island? What crap.

Thanks so much Oryx, Colette and Jessica. I don't remember any orange screen or debit permissions.

I did take all my clothes off and put on the basic shirt/pants.

Then, I have just noticed that in the upper corner my L$ balance is $3,195, and I got a pop-up saying Oryx gave me L$1,000. Thanks you so very much.

I will file a report, and I don't think I will add any US$ credits to my account until I know my way around.

Clothes are not the same as attachments.

Go to the Edit menu, go down to "Detach" and expand that menu, that will list all attachments you are wearing. Tak off any you don't recognise.

The extra menu at the bottom of that list is for HUD, just FYI.

you need to remove objects too

"Detach" objects

They are saying its a hud so you need to detach objects on your screen.

Bear in mind if it's a scam HUD, they will place it OFF screen where it isn't noticable, and/or use totally clear textures or even invis-prims to prevent easy location.

The EDIT menu is your friend ^.^

Please excuse my newbieness. By "detach all objects", does that mean take all clothes off, or something more extensive?

In the main screen on Help Island, I clicked "Edit", then "Detach Objects" and everything is grayed out, and I didn't see a "detach all objects"

I surely didn't mean for this to turn into a newbie tutorial, and I don't expect folks to keep babysitting me on this.

You wear clothes - which cant steal you money

and Objects, which can if they are scripted with debit permissions and you clicked "yes"

Basically its a script used for things like making change, etc.

You need to remove all objects you have attached to your avatar

the pie menu on your avatar there is a "Detach" option.

Not babysitting. We understand the steep learning curve at the begining is a pain.

Use the way Colette described, or use teh drop down EDIT menu as I detailed above to remove "attachments"

Attachments are various items "Worn" as part of your body. You can also see what all is Worn by opening your inventory, going into the search field at the top and typing WORN. This will show everything that you have on. Clothes and Attachments both.

You can then R-Click on the items to drop down a list of commands and can detach this way as well.

I right-click my avatar and get the following options:

Go, Groups, Profile, Appearance, Take Off, Gestures, and Friends.

I didn't see the "Detach" option.

Anyway, I will try to be more careful.

they are the ones who took advantage of me.

If you havent detached yet the object will still be able to take your money.

It exists you need to find it .

Theres a menu in one of the drop downs as well.

Another possibility is find the object in your "Objects" folder

or else soemonewhere else in your inventory,

right click it and chose "detach"

The forum doesn't allow the naming of names in this manner. You should probably edit that part out.

I am bumping you to an 8.5 on the Official Trout Measuring Instrument of Sluttiness. You are an enigma - on the one hand a sweet, gentle, intelligent woman who we would like to wrap up in our arms and protect, and on the other, a temptress to whom we would like to do all sorts of unmentionable things.

Congratulations and shame on you! You are a bit of a slut.

The "Take Off" option is the one you want.

Also, go edit your post and remove those names. You are not allowed to "name names" here. Against the rules *sighs* Silly that we have to protect those who take advantage of people.

Take Off -> Detach All

=)

It's not very intuitive for a new user!

Choose "take off" then "detach all"......or you could choose "detach" and then detach each item one at a time.
