I just heard that the "Account History" under "World" on the menu bar is now gone for good in world. That has been such an easy way to track sales and copy and paste them into a tidy word doc. bummer!!! Does any one know who benefits from this improvement? E

It's not completely gone.. it theoretically brings up the 'transaction history' webpage. Only problem is that it brings up the USD transactions, not the L transactions. There is a link on the page that brings that up.
The webpage is a lot more complete in that it tells you who paid what and how, for every transaction. Unlike the old in game, which did not tell you who gave you what or what you gave whom.
And that's the First Look browser... I'm not sure it's infected the regular browser yet. Anyone know?

I'm not sure if the regular viewer has this removed yet since it is so old. They keep promising to bring on that 1.13.4( , but it is delayed over and over while new First Look viewers are coming out like every week. The FL viewer definitely has it removed from in world. They say it was too difficult to keep updated and was an extra load on the servers. If that is correct, it would benefit everyone as long as the website page is kept up to date.

Yes, the regular view removed the "History" thing today. I know the info is all on the web page, but it is so nice while in world and dealing with customers to be able to see who bot what and when. It's also easy to copy from the inworld thing. Copying from the website is a pain because of all the cells. I will continue to adapt to all the new and improved things in sl. E

Who benefited from removing it? SL's programmer team, who now has one less feature to support.
They supposedly are improving the web-based report. We'll see...

What's more, the web-based thingie is downloadable either in Excell or in Horrible. Now I've got to get Excel. And I can't check it while I'm in the game. And when I do check it, I have to plow through bunches of $1 transactions from my money tree. Bummer. It's not the end of the world, no. It just makes life that much less convenient and that much less pleasant for creators and merchants. (And customers, in that I have to get off SL and go to a web site to confirm that they have purchased an item, which rarely comes up for me, but could be a problem for some merchants.) coco

Coco, I remember you're on PC... you're in luck, you don't have to get Excel. You can get an Excel viewer here.

From: Cocoanut Koala Now I've got to get Excel. The free Excel Viewer might help. Cheaper than buying Office in any case .

Try OpenOffice.org. Can read and write MS Office files, including Excel.

I used openoffice for a while, and it was OK. The database sucked massively though, so I ended up switching to MS Access anyway (yay for HUP). But openoffice will do the spreadsheet for sure. I know others who do fancy shmancy things with the XML but I like things simple, like "hit it with a big enough hammer and it gets into shape" simple. New update- To reduce load on databases we're disabling logins.

Yes, it's a bit more inconvenient for merchants (but honestly, not that much). It's to everybody's benefit to reduce server strain since that is the number 1 issue in dealing with lag and server asset crashes. And lag depresses sales, so it's a good tradeoff in my book.

They supposedly are improving the web-based report. We'll see... You don't have to wait and see, it's been fixed for over a week now. Nearly instantaneous updating of transaction history on the webpage.

Actually last night I watched someone buy merchandise from me and 45 mins later when I logged off to go to bed, that sale was still not reflected on the website - BUT it was reflected in the game. Account history in-game is invaluable to me. Also for some reason the transaction history on the website does not read arrow symbols <> which I have been using for 2 years to indicate where my product is selling (eg <Pando> . So now I'm faced with relabeling several hundred items before next week. Oh joy and wonders of SL.

What the hell?!
So they remove this VERY useful feature (especially for me, since I must manually split the sales made in my shop) but they add in MORE stuff we DON'T care about.
UGH!!!
Shit. Now I've got to battle f*cking spreadsheets every night.
So now I've got to dig though this messy page on the secondlife website every single day for god knows how long...when normally I get this task done every night before bed in less than five minutes.
Oh for fucks sake...

Thanks, guys, regarding the Excel alternatives!
As for this whole deal, I've got to say it sucks to have to remember to go to the trouble of looking up these things on the website all the time.

i really don`t like this... last time i checked the web version there is no thing like the overview that told you how much you made today, or this week. As a poker player i found that interesting... And i don`t wanna learn how to work Exel...

Ok this is bull sht. i can not fathom this being gone. im completely disappointed in LL once again. Not to mention, think of all the times that your account summary page has been delayed and the only thing that was up to date was the inworld sales page. What is the EASY way to see the amount of $L we made in one day now? Do we have to go thru and do some math? this is a hassle especially when you make over 500 transactions a day. Fck! I did find this: /invalid_link.htmlI just wonder how long this will work for.

I wouldn't be so bothered if it wasn't for this. It's pretty useful to be able to get a daily and weekly total at a glance, and a real PIA to have to calculate it. That and the fact that it tells me it's delayed one minute, yet it's 20 minutes before I can check a transaction. That's gonna suck if you have a customer who says they didn't get their purchase and you have to keep them waiting while it updates. Sure was a handy feature they just nerfed.

I dont mind using the website for transaction details - if it included a simple thing such as totals. I am sure this is a simple thing to accomplish and it would save me from messing about with excel.
Having said that is there a template or something for excel that can be used for this data (I am odviously not an excel expert).

Please.

Yes, we need to have that website give us some real-time results and let us know a "Total made"!

As long as the let us keep the excel/raw data download.
Eg SLB has snazzy charts but I have to copy/paste the text off the page to archive my sales there.
I have queries set up for daily totals, specific product sales by day etc etc. Nothing technical, but it's handy.
I keep the payment window alert thing enabled too, so I can see when someone just paid for something, which helps when they IM in a minute's time saying they can't find the thing they bought.

It'd be great if I knew how to use Excel. I have it, but I can't figure out the first thing about making a custom format for the data that I can querrie. In theory, we should be able to plug the data into a spreadsheet and have it presented in a custom format, with totals by week, month, year, by product, by buyer, etc... but ten minutes in Excel is enough to make me want to drink heavily, hehe. What I liked so much about the in-world account history was the way it was formatted.

Hehe - I dont have excel any more - and Sadly, I know how to do what it is you are saying =p Maybe its time I looked into getting excel and putting together a spreadsheet w/ macros to do what it is your commenting on.
