Bad week for Linden Labs with the deployment of v1. (unlucky) 13. Database crashes, Failed to Rez no copy object just gone, teleporting is nearly impossible, invisible avatars, Ruth'd avatar, Et al. On top of that, The search for places is offline for the weekend...the WEEKEND. And don't even try to look for an event on the map, just isn't there. Okay, here is my question... How much money is this costing the residents???

I wanna know if Linden Labs is prepared to comp us all for our Classified fees... since suddenly they're useless.

I think if you read TOS you will find they make it clear they are not responsible to you if there are Glitches, or service Interrupts due to Changes and Updates in the system. In short, you already Have all the compensation you are going to get, and all the compensation you Agreed that you were entitled to when you Clicked the little "I accept" check box at the Bottom of TOS.
I agree it's sucked, I find all the Glitches, and Bugs Irritating, and i also Grant people are Losing Money because of it, But i am also Fully aware of the conditions as Laid out in the TOS when i "Signed" it.
Always read the Fine Print.

Now to get back on track- The first day I had basically 0 sales, due to tps not working and search not working. Today the search is working again (95%) anyway and tps are working on and off, sales creeping back up but nowhere near normal. I guess it will all get better but sheesh..this is terrible!

Angel. Sure there are TOS but LL still needs to do something about this. This really hurts the past few days. Its twice as bad because of the amount paid on the classified ads and then the lost customers. If LL was smart, they would ad a day or so on the classified ads. There may be TOS, but its not a green light LL to mess things up.

They're not concerned about comping anyone any time, what they're concerned with is wrangling the grid back to some level of stability...

It's pretty typical for all heck to brake loose after a major update like this. Usually it's not till the 1.x.0.y+4 release do things quiet down (where y is the release number first released on the main grid). This was my 11th major update (and countless smaller updates). So the (major) bugs should all be resolved by 1.13.0.12 releases between now and then might be quite regular (multiple per week). Every so often LL will re-reimburse for downtime.

I just don't understand what is so hard about getting the classified ads to show back up. I just wasted a whole bunch of Lindens on it a few days ago and I'm very unhappy about it.

The most worrisome thing is Classifieds no longer works as it once did. You can't put in "cottages" in search and come up with Coco's Cottages. Or house, or home, or any other common search words. You have to know there is a "Coco's Cottages" and be looking for it specifically now to have it come up at all. Necessitating a name change for me, such as "Houses and Cottages by Coco," so that it would come up for "Houses" at least. This is not a SEARCH function anymore whatsoever. It is a name listing, going entirely by the first word of the name, and it's worse than the actual real-life yellow pages, which at least lets you look at whole pages and turn the page. The "Places" part of Search is still "service not available" for me. If "Places" turns out to work similarly as Classified, then there will no longer be any way to easily find something like "house" or "critter" or "avatar" or any of the things you may have previously put into the Search on "Places" when you wanted to shop for them. It will be as useless as Search is right now for Classified. Whether you are a shopper or a seller. I think they are trying to kill us, I really do. coco

Angel. The TOS does say that LL is not responsible if there are glitches or interruptions. But the TOS does NOT say that LL is allowed to continue to charge for certain things that they are unable to provide. Example: LL is still accepting user's funds for classifieds yet they are not providing classifieds. LL is still accepting user's funds to list land in search however land is not being listed. Is this aspect acceptable?

NO it is not, and both me and my partner did a dif. add right before the update now we don't even have it on the map.
we should have these lost days extended.
I trully feel for every linden hard at work to get things right, but at least have the common courtesy to not except the payments, for non functioning items.

I tried to uncheck auto-renew on my classifieds. But unfortunately I can't see my profile to do that. I know LL doesn't have to do anything but it doesn' mean they can't turn off the billing for classifieds until they are fully functional again.

I wonder if we would have had this trouble, if Linden Labs simply stuck with fixing Bugs and held off on releasing pretty toys until much much later.
Now, we are in a Crisis and the problems are not good.

From the blog:
[2:24 PM PST] We again apologize for how upsetting these disruptions have been to your Second Lives. Rest assured we’re doing everything possible to stabilize the situation; it’s been very tiring experiencing the same issues over and over, going through the same pains redundantly. :\
Related, we’ve heard questions about the possibility of not charging parcel listing fees (as found in About Land > Options tab as “Show in Search > Places”) and Classifieds this week due to Search being broken. We’re certainly going to examine what we can do to help.

From: mcgeeb Gupte I just checked and they are working for now. It's still the same. Classifieds only show up if your search entry exactly matches the first words of the ad title. Ads with a title like "Prim animals" won't show up if someone searches for "animals". And of course it also won't be found in a search for ducks, swans and what else appears in the ad text.

You can do a search of classified from the website http://secondlife.com/community/classifieds.php . Granted its not quite as easy as in game, but it does work.

The short of it is simple. LL screwed up big time this time. Intoducing "improvements" on an unsound foundation. If the base that you are building on is cracked you MUST fix the crack first before your "improvements" will work. Stop all these "improvements" until the footing it is all built on is repaired..............Simple, accurrate and very, very basic. Just my words on common sense.
