So I just upgraded my RAM, Motherboard and Processor (up to a whopping 3.20ghz!) and everything looks better and runs a little smoother than before (1.20ghz) but there are NO COLORS!
Textures that were pre-colored look fine but items that have had the color changed show up as though the color is white!
Does anyone know where I should start looking to make that work? I have the same video card as before and like I said, everything else has improved...I can see the ripples, I get a bit better FPS on average with all the shiny and lights turned on...it's just colors not showing up.
Help!

Have you upgraded your video drivers to the latest and greatest?
also check that your desktop setting display is set to 32 bit colors, as opposed to 16 bit colors or lower, but it seems thats the case........
it could also be that you are still downloading the changed items, especially if you notice a lot of "missing texture" outfits.

I updated the drivers and thought I put things to 32 bit...but I did that before the drivers so maybe they got changed. I'm not at home and hadn't started trying to diagnose it yet. I just wanted to see if someone else has seen that happen and already knew what to do so I didn't have to figure it out. Thanks!

The Plot Thickens!!!

So it's set at 32bit and everything is as it should be as far as settings both in SL and in my system.
Has anyone had this issue before? Everything looks as it should except all items that are colored through the texture settings don't show their color. The pallette shows up just fine but when I change the colors nothing happens. I have the "apply immediately" box checked and I'm not a fricking n00b!
Anyway, I'm sad.

Usually, if you make a change as radical as a new motherboard, it's normally a good idea to do a complete reinstall of the operating system. This will normally also mean needing to reinstall all your programs (I usually just reformat/wipe the hard drive and start clean).
But while I would suspect this as a possible cause of other issues, I don't see it causing the specific color problem you mention. However you might want to see if a reinstall of SL helps at all. It might be "remembering" your old hardware in some settings and not updating to work with your current setup.
I assume you have cleaned out your SL cache and rebooted the computer since first noticing this? Can you also check your system temperatures to make sure everything seems in normal range (50C and below is normally fine, higher is sometimes ok for some high performance cards).
Sometimes even if I have color set to "apply immediately," I still have to doubleclick the color a few times to get it to "take", it doesn't always seem as fluid/instant as the texture changes for me.

Colour overlay for textures not working - /142/54/179605/1.htmlIf you have an nVidia 5xxx card it's probably the same problem. There's a link to an extra post at the bottom there too with another solution that worked for people (although that one did seem specifically linked to 5xxx cards). (Now you have a reason to complain about old bugs not getting fixed too. I reported it in April ). (Jira link: http://jira.secondlife.com/browse/VWR-518 - Dan Linden's workaround - last comment - is the same as what I posted then so I guess try that first, otherwise the proggie in the other thread)

I'd say the same thing. Gonna hurt, but gotta do that format and reinstall thing or it'll never live up to what you could be getting.

Yay! That's odd that it didn't do it until I reinstalled it, though. And yes I did the reinstall of SL and the wipe and brushing behind the ears. The nvidia thing was the problem! I had set it to high performance since I upgraded so switching that back helped it. Thanks everyone!

FX 5200 isn't a "high performance" card in anyone's book, so even if you upgraded CPU, memory and every other part of the computer possible, you are probably going to need to continue scaling back graphics with an FX5200 card. GeForce cut quite a few corners on those cards and they have issues with a fair number of games. If you are looking for lowcost upgrades to your system, there's a number of lowcost economy cards that will give better performance: PCI-E: $49 8400GS: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814127296AGP: $35 Radeon 9600XT, http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814102043PCI: $99 Radeon X1550, http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814103031
