Is your avatar an alter ego or just an extension of your RL version?

I am an avatar. I live in SL and have never been to RL. I suppose you could say that I am an alter ego of the human who created me. I have a distinct indentity from my RL human, but at the same time I am not completely different from or unrelated to that human.

Ah, a kindred spirit! You understand Second Life and how to live it! Putting any details in your profile is optional. We have to choose names for ourselves different from our RLs and the game is called Second Life - indication that there is no pressure on us to be either similar or different from our RL's, it's entirely up to us. I do enough things in Second Life to be able to hold intersting conversations with other avatars about my existence here.

I'm not out to cheat or deceive anyone, I'm not looking for deep turmoil relationships, I'm just meee and I live in Yosu.

I view my avatar as my contact point in SL - I have the opportunity to change it as often as I like, into pretty much whatever I please.

I think I had a human-esque AV for about 2-3 months when I first came to SL...otherwise, I prefer non-human most of the time.

My thought is: I'm more than happy with the RL "me" as I am...I have no desire to re-make "me" in a virtual world - so, I go with something I can never be, and that might be entertaining to others in this virtual world.

Currently, my avatar is an undersized black and gray tiger wearing brass goggles and a backpack...a quadraped tiger, by the way, not anthropomorphic.

Could be very different next week...

I love the variety of avatar types and have no problems with multi-morph shapeshifters etc. Personally I'm always the same meee, a breezy hippie rock-chick brunette. I might have my hair loose or sometimes in a pony tail and I have lots of clothes but my appearance is has always remained constant, apart from slight tweaks early on. Oh....If you ever see me as a shiny green plastic bear, it's just the same old me inside - it's only a costume!

Yup, I was correct in thinking I wouldn't see any posts from these guys who run female avs although there are plenty of them around. Don't hide now, you don't hide when you're using them in sl or other games but especially in sl where sex and sexual things are so common. Oh, maybe you want to stay hidden in the 'closet' so those you've fooled won't know it's really you, a male behind them. I understand.

Come now. Nothing to say about your female avs? Are they not your alter-egos? An extension of yourselves? Or are they just your alter-egos and an extension of yourselves just when they're your same sex?

So funny.

Somebody has a problem.

Hint: it's you.

Is your avatar an alter ego or just an extension of your RL version? My answer would be, which one?

Why stop there? Let's get everyone to list the names of their alts, plus tell us how old they are in RL compared to SL. Guys, that sexy young woman on the pink poseball in front of you might indeed be a female in RL too, but she might not be young or sexy!!! Also perhaps we should all know how many L$ everyone has in their accounts. Contents of inventories, of course, should also be public knowledge.

It surprises me how many people, even some who've been here a long time, just don't get Second Life at all. I never disclose my RL's details on principle. I get propositioned by males quite a lot (and occasionally by females) and am quite skilled at diplomatically fending off amourous overtures. If I have sex in SL it happens offline so nobody sees it LOL.

And why, I wonder, do so many male avatars have long hair? I'm not complaining, I like long hair on men, but the proportion in SL is a lot more that in RL. Any explanations?

You're exaggerating way too much and talking about things that weren't even mentioned.
Giving rl info was never a subject nor was it asked to be shown. I was referring to guys who run female avs. Never did I say to disclose any rl info, you did.

Whats being discussed is people and their avs, that's it. The avs are being mentioned as being an extension of the person playing it, their alter-ego which is true. So, I stated what's with guys who run female avs, aren't these avs also an extension of the guys who run them? Aren't they also their alter-egos? I knew no one would step forward as they won't dare being they don't want to admit these females avs are also an extension of them whether they like it or not.

I know of a few guys here [regulars] who use females alts. Some of the other regulars in these forums also know who they are. But I also knew they wouldn't dare comment on this as they would then have to admit their alter-egos is a female. Nothing wrong with that, whatever floats their boat.

I assume because it is much harder to make short hair styles that are common in real life for Men in SL.
