From: Ylikone Obscure Quite frankly, it saddens me that customers should have to tip-toe around the forums, making sure that nothing negative is said about the service. Would be different if people just moaned without legitimate concerns... but that's not what I see around here. Resident Answers has a specific purpose... Every time someone posts another off-topic "Legitimate Concern" thread, (somewhat like this one), the value of "Resident Answers" slides a little closer to "useless". And we all know what happens to 'useless' forums. It shouldn't require tip-toeing to use Resident Answers in the way it was intented. But it is, apparently, too much to hope that people would bother.

From: Malachi Petunia Because you aren't a ResMod. Was that answery enough for you? That's certainly one true answer of many possible. Be glad I have no interest in actually being a ResMod. I'm annoying enough as just a normal resident.

This forum is Resident Answers, not Resident Questions. Posts that illicit debate are a form of answer and are there for legitimate in this forum. Many answers come about from someone posting a seemingly rhetorical question that sparks debate and thought. Sometimes just an acknowledgement that "Yes, we all feel your pain" is all the answer that someone needs. If the only questions allowed were of the nature of "I have a box on my head, what do I do?" then there weould be no need for this forum at all as the answer to that is available through other avenues.

Linden Labs should open a Rant Forum. That's what pretty much every other Forum in existence does, then people would have a place for posts like this. Linden Labs can just ignore it like all the other forums, but at least it would then be on topic and people could vent and feel like maybe a Linden was reading it.

I agree with Jopsy. It's threads like this that will kill the last place Residents (new and old) can go to get the help they need. I have always found the forums helpful and in fact, have had *most* of my non-technical questions answered here. I know people are frustrated, but please have some respect for your fellow residents...we don't want to see this forum also closed.
Editing to add - I realize this may all be moot and we'll see this forum closed soon...I know it won't be one or even 100 threads of rants that does it. I am sure it's been a long time coming...long before me.

I would like to ask a question to Jopsy

From resident to resident.... why don't you see a legitimate complaint as a chance we give Linden Labs of getting better?
Complaints can be considered as 2 things : A feedback to point something that's wrong and a chance to correct it OR whinning/ranting/flamming.
You know, half full or half empty glass
Do you see it half full or do you see it half empty?
Why try to cover the sun with the point of your finger? Some things are wrong in sl, terribly wrong, being customer service the worse of them. We get promises that never get fulfilled. I dread weekends. I dread evenings. I dread the ever growing numbers I see in the opening window, as I know that with each new subscription it will be more difficult for all of us to use the grid, impossible to build, to create, impossible to move, barely able to walk, crashes every 2 or 3 minutes, bugs that never get fixed-- and I would go on and on. Still I love SL, and I'll do all I can to enjoy it the fullest. But we still have the right to speak up, to express our uncomfort.
This is a place to ask and answer, and Musicteacher did just that, he asked a question that expressed his uncomfort at not being responded by LL. He got an answer, or many answers. Where's the sin? I feel your response is somehow provoking a debate, trying to make him feel uncomfortable.
Again, half full or half empty?
