Raining on my property - only my property?

Hi all,

I am a bit confused and don't understand how a cloud could be directly above my plot of land. It is raining only on my business and I can't stop it. I built a solid roof and it still comes through essentially ruining my properties atmosphere. Is there anything I can do about this? PLEASE HELP!!!

Thanks all for any insight and/or feedback...

Have you tried right-clicking the cloud to see who it's creator/owner is? I'm not aware of rain being part of SL, so I'm guessing this is someone playing a mean prank.

If your shop is a rental then you'll have to talk with the landowner to get that removed, but if it is your land you can delete the cloud.

I did try but it looks like it is part of the game. However, it is only over my property. I own the land and have most script/access options turned off. Any other ideas?

Hey Jak

Particle effects are a "passive script", which means that once it is started, even turning scripts off after the script has started won't turn it off.

The cloud and rain is probably generated by an object hidden on your land. I'd suggest the following:

1. Go into Preferences and turn down Max Particle Count - not sure which graphics tab it's under but it's there somewhere. Turn it to 0 for the time being to hide the rain and clouds.
2. Stand in your land and rightclick your land. and select the About Land option.
3. Hit Control-Shift-T ... this should highlight any transparent or invisible prims in red.
4. Look where the cloud was to see if there's a small (possibly really tiny, like smaller-than-a-sugar-cube sized) object where it was.
5. Get close, rightclick it, and in the menu, select 'More', and then 'Return Object' in the second menu.

If this is your land it is on, then the item will be returned to its owner. And hopefully the particles will go with it. ;)

I believe this is the same problem that Zi Ree had earlier in the Neon Blob post. Your rain is caused by a particle generator which is a prim, but is most likely very small and could be transparent. Here's a link to that post, Angelique LaFollette gave a good solution on how to get rid of pesky particles

There is no rain that is part of the game, someone placed that there. Look in the about land window and update the list of objects and who owns them in that window. You can then choose to return any objects that don't belong to you. Set the land to 10 minutes objects auto return to prevent people leaving stuff like this in the future.

The actual particle generator is probably invisible. Maybe you could contact live help and have someone help you find it.

If it's your land, you can just to into About Land and the Objects tab. That will show you how many prims on your land are owned by other people. You have the option of highlighting everything that does not belong to you, so you can find the prim that way. Or, if it's the only thing on the land that isn't yours, you can just return all the objects that don't belong to you.

And if it is your land, setting autoreturn will stop this sort of thing happening in the future. Well, for longer than one minute, at least.
