oh geez - there have been so many things that just didn't go as planned. I've said a few things in the wrong IM, although usually nothing racy or snarky. I think I offered someone a tp once. Showed up as dancing to everyone else and looked perfectly normal to me.

Here's the one that traumatized me for some reason. I was with a female friend and she wanted to go out somewhere - nothing sexy was going on here. We didn't know each other terribly well at the time. She instantly changed into the appropriate clothes and I went to put on a different outfit, and for some reason, ended up totally naked - the outfit had some prim stuff and some regular stuff and everything got all screwed up. So there I was, in her living room, buck-naked, and HORRORS - my part wasn't attached (of course it wasn't - it's not like I wanted to be running around like a noob with his first primnis poking out through his fly) I was still pretty new, and I was mortified. OMG! She'll see I don't have one! Maybe she'll think I'm some kind of deformed freak! She'll think I'm trying to molest her but I'm too stupid to do it right! Aggghhhh!!!

Of course the folder with the outfit in it had all sorts of crap, so it took FOREVER for me to figure out which part was supposed to cover me up properly. It turns out, she wasn't even paying attention and missed the whole show, and even if she had, she was certainly old enough to know that men don't come equipped with those parts. She also has a great sense of humor and wouldn't have been offended in the least.

All of those things went completely over my head in a moment of sheer panic and humiliation. What is it psychologically that brought up that reaction in me? When other people all of a sudden are accidentally naked around me, I just shrug it off - it's part of SL. We're cartoons - who cares? When it's me, it's a nightmare.

Happened to me. Was in a pose, stood up, fell out of the box landed through the ceiling of another skybox. Skybox's always seem empty. This one had two women in it, and very shortly a man appeared. I was naked and cuffed.

Two furries in a skybox.
Furry.1: "It's raining cats and dogs outside!"
Furry.2: "mmmmmmmmmm"

This is only a near miss, but it makes me chuckle and I think it can be instructive.

I was chatting away in a small group and one particularly attractive lady expressed a fervent dislike of IM's that arrive out of the blue from all but her friends. Once the conversation had died down a little, I asked for clarification on who she would consider familiar enough to IM her directly, but received no reply. I waited, in case she was afk for a moment, and then repeated the question. Again, there was only silence.

I then typed, in open chat, a phrase that I commonly use to express resignation. My finger was literally hovering over the return key when an alternative meaning suddenly occurred to me. At that point, an icy chill descended and lodged in the pit of my stomach. I had typed "Hey ho".

Heh, I bought a fully furnished skybox from a midsized store. Had IM'd the owner a few times during the transaction. About half an hour later, I got a mistell IM where she confessed she enjoys being "forced". Of course I jumped in and said oops wrong window, and she could only chuckle. It made my day. :)

Considering everything, are you sure that was a "wrong window" situation? :)

I have no idea what the meaning of that phrase could mean other than one particular meaning. And don't call me a ho

I just want to state for the record that the owner in question was *not* me. Trout, I'm not even going to read those 6 IM's you just sent. :p

By the way, this little exchange was started by the brief "oh no I used the wrong account" and then the realization that I didn't need to hurriedly change anything because I already "outed myself" a while back.

That can be tricky, though, and embarrassing :) Hehe - see, this goes with this thread :)

OK, now I'm the one who's confused :) Then again, that is my default state.

For anyone who has never seen it before, the "ho" in this context is intended to indicate an encouragement to proceed. It's the same usage as in the hunting cry "Tally ho". A more verbose version of the intended meaning would have been, "Oh well. Never mind. I'll move on to something else."

Going unexpectedly naked... check
Logging in to show a RL friend SL, and being somewhere embarrassing... yup
Typing an inappropriate message into the wrong dialogue box and sending it... 'fraid so

So far no-one has mentioned this one... Accidentally texturing a huge build with a naked photo of yourself in a busy sandbox. And deleting it without a copy in my rush for it not to be spotted. *face-palm*

Ok :) Seriously, though, I have never seen "ho" used that way. The closest that I have seen that being used that way would be Santa's "ho ho ho" and I just never made the connection. Granted I didn't think Santa was calling the reindeer ho's.

It's probably even more parochial than I had feared.

Please don't then. I'd hate to have to add something to my list of things I've done to embarass myself in SL. Where are those pics you keep promising me, anyway?
