I'd prefer a tier/sim system myself.
That wouldn't work for groups though unfortunately, which is how nearly ad plots are owned.

So.... Would people be able to visually mute my prim skirt under this scenario?

Just wondering.
They could do that already now, and there is/was a proggie to render everyone naked instead of with clothes on.

I doubt it as it would be an attachment to your avatar.

I actually had nothing to do with the endless variations on visual muting in the JIRA. It's simply one of many ideas which have been bandied about for quite a bit.

I tried this the other day - it works quite nicely!

In practice, I think people will mainly mute objects around their Home (or store) or places they frequent regularly, as you have to select them individually, but it made a nice difference to the view on my home Sim :)

As a side note - muting the objects makes them *almost* invisible - Able realised that without that, people could be walking into invisible objects that they'd muted.

If anyone feels like it, you can vote for Able (https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/MISC-405) as part of the "Best Open Source Feature".
