Yeah, no. I've got a shop to deal with and actually SL is paying for itself these days.
I won't be participating in a symbolic protest that will go unnoticed...again. I signed Project Open Letter! _____________________

I won't be participating in a symbolic protest that will go unnoticed...again. I signed Project Open Letter! Project Open Letter failed to devise a financial penalty for Linden Lab. In this case, the path to a financial penalty is clear: Get money off the table by having another resident absorb land into their excess unused tier which allows a person to reduce their tier level while at the same time preventing a resident from acquiring the parcel and increasing their tier. By transferring a parcel of my own to a friend with excess unsused tier I was able to reduce the monthly value of my account by 30-percent while my friend didn't need to increase their tier. Note that there are other methods of taking money off the table: Using other currency exchanges than the LindeX, which can potentially make a dent into the sales of fresh L$ by the Supply Linden account and can deprive LL of transaction fees and credit processing fees. |

Yet you felt the need to post that you would not be participating. Next time don't bother. If you were interested in more than complaining about LL then you'd actually organize something beyond a post on a forum that only a minority of SL'ers read. Next time don't bother. _____________________

You are my favorite troll. I love the hypocracy you bring to every post, like your constant complaining about complaining. Go back to work. _____________________

You're asking me to sell my home? That's the only way I - and probably most other people in SL - can tier down..

You're asking me to sell my home? That's the only way I - and probably most other people in SL - can tier down.. Nope. Not asking anyone to sell their home.. simply pointing out that if you can transfer your land to another friendly resident with excess unused tier you, in turn, can reduce your tier. Or, if you, yourself, have excess unused tier you might absorb the parcel of another friendly resident and allow them to tier down. It works because whoever absorbs the land doesn't have to increase their tier level. They pay the same amount. And the person who transfers the parcel can go down a tier level and thus pay a lower fee. This idea came about during a discussion of how to have a boycott directed at Linden Lab while at the same time preventing damage to other residents. |

Sindy,
It depends on how much land your home is using. If you're on a 512, then it won't make a difference. But if you're on a 1024, for example, you might end up SAVING money by renting from a landlord, who pays LL a flat fee for maintaining the land; this process would keep money out of LL's pockets. _____________________

You are my favorite troll. I love the hypocracy you bring to every post, like your constant complaining about complaining. Go back to work. You know you love the attention! I'm technically complaining about you anyway! I've got 3 monitors for my work and have the stunning ability to multi-task. What's your excuse? Why don't you take this time to organize your "movement" instead of trying to bait me and go rounds with me? _____________________

Ah, nevermind. Let's do what SqueezeOne suggests. Nothing. Some "movement" if you give up before it even start! I'm not suggesting you do "nothing". I'm suggesting you do something more tangible if you're serious about what you're proposing. Posting on this forum isn't taking action by any means. _____________________

Posting on this forum isn't taking action by any means. I'm not trying to start a movement. I just made a suggestion on a way to get a message to LL because they seem to be making one misstep after another. It was venting more than anything else. The only movements you start are when you shit on other people's threads. So fuck off with your criticism and take your three monitors and shove them up your ass. That wasn't bait. I sincerely want you to shove them up your ass. _____________________

Posting on this forum isn't taking action by any means. Actually, if by own example outlined above convinces three other residents to find three friends and they all engage in a swap which allows three of them to absorb tier with no increase in tier fees and allows three of them to reduce their tier level I'd be thrilled as it has a net result of taking money off the table. Those that wish to take part in this action can. Some folks won't be able to and can do other things: Decline to upgrade their account status from free Basic to Premium. Decline to use the LindeX and use a third-party exchange. Decline to tell others in RL about the product. Etc. |

My home is about 8000m2 and wishing I had some more. I don't think I'm going to be able to contribute much to this cause. Good luck, though. |

I honestly believe that LL is trying to address these issues, and don't know if this is the right solution. As the ratio of free accounts to premium accounts rises, LL will have less resources to deal with these technical issues.
However, LL could also take on some new financing to give themselves these resources. Do you know how many VC firms would love to loan LL some money?? Bottom line: if we all abandon LL (financially speaking) and hope to get a free ride, then another company will come along and take LL's place as the leader in virtual worlds. I'd rather have the freedom of SL (and its temporary shortcomings), than be confined to a Playstation Home-type world with much less freedom. _____________________

If the question is who might become the next leader in virtual worlds I have high hopes for Areae.net as Linden Lab has had plenty of time to address a variety of issues and seems to be completely unwilling to shed it's "house of engineers" attitude. Note that it took nine-months of endless whiteboarding for LL to replace its rather fractured Live Help system with a closed help system that's, surprisingly, even less helpful than the system it replaced. Much in the same way that LL states that it "has the right but not the obligation" to deal with any number of things outlined in the Terms of Service the customer base is also under no obligation to be endlessly patient as a never-ending series of bugs are introduced and the system suffers chronic malfunctions. You get what you pay for. If you're not getting it then why pay for it? |

You could always start giving Areae.net your money instead and wait for them to catch up...that's investing! It's not so much a question of investing as it is that at a certain point people become more willing to go with the Devil they don't know rather than they Devil they do know. However, I'm very excited at the possibility that another organization might produce a more stable product and provide a more adequate level of customer service. |
