My name is Strife and I haven't touched the moderation tools for one day. I was a prisoner and an addict to it. It provided structure but came at the cost of responsibility and friends. I kinda don't know how to act now... I don't have the responsibilities I use to have to fall back on to tell me. I've been the authority figure so long I don't know who to look to for guidance. When your at the top you see all the possibilities of those around you and you recognize the prison of responsibility; all the things you can't do because you have to set a good example. But now I'm released and the possibilities lay before me, oh the temptation.
I'm like the tiger that has lived in the zoo to long, now released it doesn't have the moral security of the prison. If it chooses to eat man it can, in the zoo it wasn't an option.
I think I'm in need of repatriation.

HI STRIFE!!! (jeez people, have none of you ever been to a 12-step meeting?) welcome back to the madhouse *hugs* Your new years resolutions sounded good to me, making money, doing more in RL ... several of us have similar ambitions. I know its boring and frightening, but RL ... well ... it's the place to accomplish things. Moderating a forum must be so lonely and unrewarding ... no clue why you did it for so long ... it's kinda pointless too, tho when I look at SLU this weekend I thank the primal cause that there is no general forum here, and that moderation here has occasionally been strict. DAMMIT GET YOUR PAWS AWAY FROM THOSE MOD TOOLS! I can see you're going to be a hard case, cabbit. But welcome back to the riffraff anyway. One day at a time ... take it one day at a time.

Maybe a kind of halfway house/petting zoo might serve for awhile until your rehabilitation is completed

It's time to let out the unbridled snark that you've been dying to use all this time. It will be cathartic.

aww Strife, just keep telling yourself to let it go, take a break away if you haven't. start thinking about yourself, doing what you want, what you! enjoy. Or need to be doing. It takes some time to readjust. You can do it Most of us met you here, you are smart and funny, go share that, yourself, remind yourself not your job anymore and have fun. -And you could have it all My empire of dirt-

Happy New Year, Strife! Cabbits eat MEAT? *Shock!* Hiya, Strife. I know, I know...it's a daunting prospect, being able to say what you darn well please for a change. Go ahead, let it out. You can do it!

You may want to pick a different analogy, considering what just happened at the San Francisco Zoo.

Tiger, eh? I'm half kitty anyway, I'm not scared.
Strife, hopefully all that tiring weight of responsibility and people accusing you of all manner of things has now been thrown into a dark corner and you can finally enjoy your life again. *has visions of carefree cabbit dancing over green hills*
Edit: being an ex-mod myself, I can understand at least a bit of what is going on...

May I suggest you open a IRC chat room and ban anybody that utters the word "Hello". This may help to satisfy all your needs.

I'm greatly disturbed by this, but I thought I'd share anyway Last night I had a dream (RL), Myself and two others that I talked into it, ran rampant in the forums, baiting Strife to hit those buttons, tempting him so bad he couldn't resist. In the dream the forums were 3d by the way, we really were running through them like mad women. In the end he did, he banished us from the forums, at which point we ended up in the banishment room. (think a hollowed out 10x10x10 cube, no doors) We couldn't leave, not even logout. Then along came Strife, grinning from ear to ear, he'd gotten his fix. All we wanted to know is how long were we banished, he wouldn't tell. Around this point Strife also tried to leave, and couldn't he was also stuck in the banishment room. Sadly there is no ending with escape or romance, it all just seemed to fade away.

Well, Strife...Unless you are some power-crazed Demi-Dictator you can easily lean back and breathe easy for a spell. Even though I am relatively new around here, I did not see a raving lunatic at work in this forum. Members should largely be able to "run" a Forum this large (within the TOS/TOU) and Mods/Admin only available at need rather than necessity.
I am and have been an Admin and Mod at a couple of Forums the past couple of years, and I have always stuck by the maxim of "the less Moderation, the better". Otherwise you will be creating an atmosphere that will not encourage new membership, and will stagnate very quickly. Some times, if you stick at the "job" too long, you will burn out and feel frustrated with not letting your own hair down enough. I take ocasional sabbaticals to prevent that from happening.
So - Go celebrate and enjoy yourself. I'm off to get my new 2008 Straight-Jacket fitting completed.

It's funny after I first posted I was like "Got that off my chest... hmm I'm not so bothered by this after all..." and then I went about the forum reading stuff and when I saw something that looked actionable, I got all serious for a moment thinking about what needed to be done and then a thought struck me and I shouted "THAT'S NOT MY PROBLEM!!!" and laughed full heartedly... it's become a bit of a common occurrence now. I'm enjoying not being obligated to worry about things. I'm enjoying not having to wade through shit. "Yup that's shit, not my problem" I don't have to think about the politics. I can relax... and I'm enjoying it. Anyway, I have been getting some of the pent up evil out by debate Prok on Jira. I didn't realize she was a libertarian. Talk about a different frame of mind.

It's always unusual to see the humanity behind authority... If taken away the one thing that makes a person truly differant, they just become like everyone else.

Lol, well I home I'm not tempting you too much, that thread must be frustrating to read for you, but I'm hoping it's still seen as civil debate, I'm trying and I think it's winding down anyway, but being obsesive compulsive morality freak causes me issues

Yeah I didn't post my last post on that jira, so much I could say. The arguments were getting repetitive. A nod to another resident: http://www.last.fm/music/stellastarr*/+videos/+1-fZKGC5cjWX4Would make an amusing machinima.

*giggle* Oh well, I had a post that was double as long as what i finally posted....I sometimes get riled up too easily I think. But I love the script you did! Especially when I noticed what its preset "list" of people was.... (Note to self: next time, FIRST stop media player running old Front 242 songs, THEN click on links) Now that you're "free", you could come to the forum hangout some time?
