SL doesn't work in Ubuntu 7.10

Hello,

I tried to download SL and to make it run under Ubuntu 7.10 but it doesn't open at all ...

What can i do ?

After you extract the file, open it and double click secondlife.bin and run it in terminal and see if it gets an error message. I can't get it to work either but with other problems. I can get in game then everything flickers and crashes. Worked just fine in the previous 2 versions of Ubuntu...

Downgrade your mesa packages

I changed to a Radeon 9600pro and all is working smooth as silk now. Not sure why the Nvidia card did not work with 7.10. Worked great with 7.04. Oh well. The mesa thing doesn't sound like the same problem. The flickering was not isolated to certain things. Even the login screen was flipping out. Oh well, who would have though a ATi card would fix a video problem in Linux. lol

might want to try updating your NVidia drivers.

use restricted drivers for nvidia ... working well on my laptop with 7.10!
