Hmm. 1.10.1 is due out today, and the win32 1.10.1(0) preview crashes on startup under WINE. If others see the same thing, the Linux client doesn't get some fixing, and 1.10.1-final is like the preview, then Linux users could be pretty stuck for non-crashy SL access for a while.

If that still the case after the upgrade it'll make today's meeting fun - everyone will be crashing and rejoining all the time...if we can get in at all.

My wine / windows 1.10.1(0) seems stable... is it a configuration issue? Or a wine version issue maybe? _____________________

I'm using the latest WINE (which is just peachy with 1.10.0 and everything prior). I'm glad that not everyone has problems. I'll see how the non-preview version of SL runs in, hmm, about 90 minutes from now if everything's on schedule...
edit: Still crashes. The last thing it's trying to do is load a shader. I'll fiddle with the settings file when I'm done with work. edit2: I give up. |

I'm in-world now with cedega 4.2. Works nicely, high frame rates... overall a good feeling.

Without a windows installation anywhere, and without a working linux client since I reinstalled suse, i'm stuck for a settings.ini file to use to get this running windowed... Please could somebody direct me to a copy of a working settings.ini file so I can play again? Thanks

SL via WINE is working fine for me. As far as whether or not I still have the increased frequency of crashing as I did with 1.10.0 will require a little more time.

Hopefully I am not jumping the gun based on good luck here... For the first time since 1.10.x I was able to log on after work and stay on for about 6 hours straight until logging off without any crashing. Would still rather use the native client, but WINE is 100% better than 0%, to me at least.

1.10.1 works for me with crossover office

I downloaded the demo of corssover office and that seems to run the latest windows version well for me.
If LL don't fix the Linux client in 30 days I might have to pay real money for a copy... |

Turn off your avitar vertex shader. It isn't on (in either client) |

It isn't on (in either client) Strange, you may have a new bug of sorts. The windows client as of update 34 was rendering black bodied avitars until the vertex shader was turned off. Though, the linux client was rendering no body(clear) until the vertex shader was off, that was fixed it seems. |

Though, the linux client was rendering no body(clear) until the vertex shader was off, that was fixed it seems. This bug involves just the face (although some clothes such as skirts cant be adjusted). Christine has the same problem. It seems that if you can get into the Linux native client long enough to open the appearance dialog, it automagically fixes the avatar. However, back in the Win client, it breaks the avatar as soon as you attempt to change the appearance. |

Yup - thats the wine alpha bug allright. Would that account for things like the skirt length being stuck at full-long on the Win version too? If this is the case is there a workable fix for wine 0.9.14? Cheers. /EDIT Just to pump you for a bit more info.... The bit that I can't grasp is why an Alpha bug would make my appearance wierd to other clients too and not just my own with the bug? |
