No Sound Through Headset/SL Does Not Shutdown "Cleanly"

I have Kubuntu 8.04 and a Logitech USB 350 Headset and even though I can get sound working through the headset in KDE, I cannot get sound working through the headset in SL. Voice works fine, btw! :-D I am glad to have that working. :-) Sound through the headset's headphones in SL is not working, however. How can I enable this in SL? Do I need to do something in SL or in Linux/KDE?

Also, SL never shuts down "cleanly." That is, I can still hear the SL wind through my speakers after shutting down SL and the program ./do-not-directly-run-secondlife-bin is still running in the background after closing out of SL according to KDE's System Guard. I always have to use System Guard to completely shut down SL manually. This gets pretty annoying after awhile as you can probably imagine. Does anyone know how to fix this problem?

Thank you and have a nice day! :-)

in regard to the "does not shutdown cleanly", I do not know ho to solve the base cause, but I created a shortcut to kill secondlife, so I don't need to open the process list each time:

killall -9 do-not-directly-run-secondlife-bin

Which version do you see that problem on? 1.20 should be significantly less likely to do that.

I'm actually seeing that problem as well. Logging off was more of a crash than a close using 1.20.12. (>_<;)

Add that in parallel to the issue I mentioned here>>> /263/e0/223796/9.html#post2068015

1.19.4. I downloaded my version of SL from Getdeb.net, by the way. :-)

I can confirm that this also occurs on Debian GNU/Linux Testing right now using 1.20.15 and a Plantronics USB headset. The crash seems to occur after the client leaves the grid, so no problems reconnecting. Sounds from other programs can also play, but the only thing you hear in-world is what's coming over the Voice or Media channels.

It's too bad this isn't a mailing list... mailing lists are so much easier to read, post to, search the archives in, etc compared to these brain damaged forums...

If a Linden wants a strace or something, I can do that.
